Thanks guys! I hope Kalani likes it as much as I do. I'm hoping if I arrange his setup well, he'll be able to at least do a little "hop flight" from side to side of the cage.

Wow Don, that's a great cage! Wait, it's not a cage, it's an indoor aviary to be honest :). That's the perfect thing actually, for a large mac. Exciting times for you, with your beautiful new home and Kalani!

Thanks so much! Selection of the right house partially revolved around Kalani and his setup!

This house wasn't purchased with birds in mind (and MrC bought it in 1994 when they just had cockatiels and lovebirds), but it's still got a number of perfect rooms for birds. I'm currently in the process of trying to convince MrC that since we don't really watch a lot of TV, we don't really need our living room (we have a 900 square foot rec room where the TV and playstation could go instead) and really should turn it into a large bird room once Charlotte comes out of quarantine. There's a HUGE window on the front of the house that might be even better than the windows in the current bird room and quarantine room. He's not going for it. Drats.

Haha, that's too bad. How's space looking for transitioning Charlotte into the current bird room?

This house is full of windows, which is awesome. It is also full of ceiling fans that I'll never be able to use now lol

I can get her in there if I downsize my desk or remove it entirely. Or I can put her in the formal dining room (because doesn't everybody need a parrot in their dining room?) which is in eyesight of the rest of the birds. I'm actually serious about turning the living room into an expanded bird room, though it will take some convincing. MrC doesn't handle change well (because he's pretty much half bird, which is why he's so good with them), so it'll take a lot of convincing. I still have a lot of time though, so we shall see. The house is over 4000 square feet (4200 or 4700 depending on which set of plans you believe), so we have a lot of space to work with if he's willing to change the way things have been set up since he and his late wife bought the house.

20 weeks old today. Getting so close!

Not a picture sent directly to me from the breeder, but one he posted on his website, as he periodically adds a photo to his "adopted" section.

His birds are Goofy the 31 year old Amazon whom he inherited from his brother in law when BIL had to move into a small apartment unsuitable for a cranky bird who had become nasty after adolescence and Cookie the cockatiel , who his late wife got as a 2-ish year old sometime during the time they were briefly separated (1993 to mid 1994...they got back together when they bought this house in 94 and we're still together when she died in 98), and my birds are Leo, a 9 year old Senegal I got at the start of this year and now Charlotte.

Wow! Kalani and you both have beautiful new homes! I'd love to see more pics of your new house:) Congratulations again!

Quite the variety!

They're all "second hand" (or third or fourth hand) birds. MrC's late wife was given Cookie along with two other cockatiels (who have since passed) by a neighbor who could no longer care for them. Goofy turned nasty on his first human and then he had to move and while he tried to re-create the bond, it just wasn't working and would have been terrible in an apartment situation, so MrC took him. Leo came from a man who's wife had fallen seriously ill and between work and taking care of his wife, couldn't give him the attention he deserved. That man was at least Leo's second human. And you know Charlotte's story. We've honestly never really set out to acquire a bird. They seem to find us.

I was just approached today about taking in an amazon that belongs to a couple who are getting too old. I had to say no because we just got Charlotte. I did refer them to a couple reputable rescues in the area though. I'm a sucker for an animal in need. I used to rescue cats and dogs, but have stopped since moving in with MrC, as he's allergic to anything with fur. Apparently I just picked up my old habits with birds instead.

20.5 weeks old! We are getting close.

It was 101 degrees in the breeder's part of Cali today, so we have a wet jungle chicken.

They sure do grow quick. Time is going so fast and so slow, all at the same time. 3.5 weeks until he comes home! We're in the same month now!

Thanks so much for the kind words.
Counting down the days now. I need one of those calendars with the chocolate each day that they use to count down to Christmas lol.

LOL Ok that sounds perfect.. then again anything involving chocolate is perfect by default.

I pick up Rookie tomorrow so I've got that excited combine with trepidation feeling

Kalani is truly stunning & is gonna be one lucky parrot :)

Unless you're me, and chocolate is out to kill you (allergy with anaphylaxis reaction, though not as bad or as fast as my reaction to tomatoes, which means no pizza).

I'm so excited I can hardly wait to hear you have him home with you! I can only imagine how excited you are.
