Right now Salty is.....

What's his hammock made of? I really like it, just as the coconut shelter. He's definitely enjoying these :)

Its a seagrass hammock. He chews the edges and I have to re-set the support rings, but he Loves hanging out in it.

Salty was cracking us up yesterday. He was saying "I'm a bird ! Yeah ! " over and over. Very funny. Who ever said yellow shoulder amazons are not good talkers needs to come over some time. Salty will talk his ear off.

I was a witness (Amy too!) to his jabbering! :D ;)

Tonite Salty and I watched some parrot videos - mostly Indian Ringnecks because he likes their voices.
Salty talks backto them - sometimes he introduces himself "Salty" or tells them they are Pretty Pretty Birds or What are you doing? Sometimes he walks over to see more of the parrot on the screen but he is always disapointed. It's so cute - stretched out on our bed - tablet set up and Salty on my shoulder and him talking to the parrots on the sceen.

I highly reccomend trying this with your parrot.

Singing is exactly what Salty was doing for this pic.

So many parrot cackles sound so evil, but Salty's is just such a good-natured belly-laugh! Yours, Mr. Goodwrench????????

Gave Salty a 1/2 of a pomegranate for dinner last night, and he was scared of it. He ran away and looked skeptically from the top of his cage. For all of a minute. Then he, no kidding, was sneaking up on it. I've seen him do this before, is it an Amazon thing? Any who, Salty took a few precautionary nibbles, you know, in case I might have fed him acid or nerve agent. And dived in and didn't come up for air until after our dinner was over.
You could say he likes it.

Hahaha this is a great story. Sneaky Salty!

Inger, it really looked like he was sneaking up on it. His food bowl (lunch and dinner) is on his hanging boing. Separating that from his cage is his ceiling chain. Salty had his head down low and instead of moving sideways along the chain, he was slowly going foot over foot, eyes transfixed on this new food in his bowl.

Ready to pounce! typical Amazon!! :p

Levi loves pomegranates. Did you give him the whole fruit or the seeds? I usually put the seeds in a bowl for him. But, I bet he’d love pulling it apart himself.

I just plopped a 1/2 of the fruit into his bowl..... We will use the other half tomorrow nite.

Love it. I have this whole image of him sidling up to the bowl as if nothing is amiss!

Bumble was afraid of pomegranate too, but she didn’t brave it out and attack. I should give it another try.

Salty is such a stinker sometimes. Last nights training session included his drill on colors, yellow, red, blue and green. He knows them. He's done various tricks that involve colors. Last nites training was with little colored plastic boxes with sliding lids and colored rings. So instead of putting the right ring in the appropriate box ( which he has done dozens of times before correctly) Salty started putting them into the wrong boxes. He does this once in a while, but when I correct him, he does it right. Last night when I corrected him, he gave me a sidelong look, marched to the edge of the table and threw the rings overboard. Gave me a full on look to say "Now that that is done...". I was like OK Chief we'll move on. Very one on one moment.

On the other hand, he gave Geri ( who is doing OK after surgery ) and I a nice concert just before dinner. I have to say his singing ability seems to be getting better, both on mimicking and creating his own little songs.
