Right now Salty is.....

I knew an Amazon back in New Mexico who relished chicken wings. The Rickeybird has no such interest. He has eaten crunchy bacon a few times but the missus won't give him that much at all. His beak certainly seems to like my fingers and toes but I am confident that that is rivalry-oriented as opposed to appetite-oriented......................................

I want video of Salty saying Lou Ferigno [emoji23][emoji23]

Wish there was a Pet Of The Year.. I'd be the first to vote for Salty.

I'm still trying to figure out the helmet thing with Amy too,Al..If I can get Amy to wear her harness,a mini leather jacket/vest would be next...gotta be some out there that can make one of those for her lol.
She has already rode up and down my drive way,SLOWLY,grasping the handle bars lol.

Jim, how did I know you'd have tried that with Amy. Bet she loved it.
I saw a guy in China on a moped with a big cockatoo. And they were boogying right along.

So last nights session was kinda blah, Salty was not in the mood to train, so we only did 10 or so tricks and let him decline the ones he is not crazy about doing. I had just charged his foraging puzzle toy before dinner, and then he ate his chop and may just have been stuffed too much to be hanging from chopsticks and playing cards. He is still molting too, so I gave him a pass. On the other hand, his singing has markedly improved both with the opera piece and just singing his own songs. I try to keep a treat handy for these impromptu concerts, but we can never tell when the next one will be!

So precious!
I love that suspension-bridge chain, too. It's such a great little highway for an unflighted bird. He must have excellent balance. The Rb has never been able (or willing) to walk on a flexible or swinging thing. The bridge goes all over the place, right? I'd love to see that!

Its actually pretty stable, Gale, because i gave it several twists to help make it more solid. But no doubt Salty is really comfortable running back and forth on it, and hanging by one toe as he sings. I don;t know why folks dont use this more, to allow the unflighted birds some means of gettin around, besides their human taxis.

Interesting. Bumble refused to do a few tricks yesterday. She looked at me like she had NO IDEA what I wanted. I wonder if she and Salty are conspiring?

This actually belongs with the last video post -

So we just got back from the pet shop, for pellets, 3 new toys for Salty ( he gets to pick them out), a metal cage for fruits and stuff - like a foraging toy, a footie toy, Avicakes, Nutriberries, Doggie food and Dentastix for Tinker. WHew - close to $200, but we are set until I return from China sometime in Dec. Salty was so good putting his harness on - I think I finally have a tecnique. Hold his head gently to put the head loop on, and then onto his back to put the wing straps on and tighten it all up. YEAH! No bites, no scratches and no blood! Oh and a ready supply of pine nut pieces to reward him the whole time he is in the harness. Crazy- the staff at the pet shop know him from the last time we went there, and the stores staff all came over to the check out counter to say hello. Salty obliged by saying ...... nothing. But he did give me kisses.*

Salty was so eager to do tonights training session, he was hopping around, and tripping over his own feets as we moved from trick to trick. We even did some harness training, and he just slipped the head loop on.

Salty has his routine when he is uncovered around 10AM. First, if it's Sat or Sun, he gets weighed, today he is 291gr, about average for him.
THen he gets fed b'fast, pellets, 1 or 2 walnuts, a few Nutraberries, maybe a few cheerios (plain). Then he plays with his toys. Thats what this video is. Salty has a light up rubber ball that he quite enjoys.

And another - honestly if Salty were 20x larger, I would not want to be on the receiving end. Very raptor like.
