I miss him so much it hurts. It doesn’t feel right that he’s suddenly gone.. I’m worried.
Please be okay Sunny:smile016:

Do the flocks migrate often, will they often return to previous areas?

I know how terribly conflicted you must feel. If the flock has departed, Sunny almost certainly remains with them.

I’ve been away again since Wednesday until today BUT Sunny was seen by a friend pecking about around his Aviary on Wednesday night!
:D

Poor Sunny  Probably wondering where Mama is now ;)

Amazing sighting! Big question, has the flock returned or is he separated and vulnerable?

There has been some corella flocks around again since about Monday, they just don’t seem to be sleeping in their usual area. A lot of them have been passing over the farm each day to go over into the state forest. So I don’t think his separated from the flock, as their still around just not quite so close.
I’m happy for him to leave, I’d just like to know he’s still alive. So I’m happy with the sighting.

Hannah, if you can, get a brightly-coloured plastic band from your vet or local stock and station agent. If/when Sunny comes to visit you, you could band him then. Wearing a band would make him easy to pick out from a flock and other people would be able to recognise him too.

Sounds very encouraging, Hannah. You and Sunny have an attentive fan base at PF!!

What a great idea, Trish!!

Last night was a very cold night, and today cold and rainy so it’s great to see he’s okay. Lots of Corellas were about this morning, mostly in small groups or pairs. It says online they pair off in June/July so I recon they are all busy finding there potential mates at the moment. Which makes sense as I saw Sunny with a single friend the other week.
He’s lost a little bit of weight but nothing concerning considering it’s his first week on his own, plus a change of feeding grounds AND sudden change in weather.
:)

Hi Betrisher!
I did think this also, However I was concerned that it may attract people to catch him as they might think a leg band means he’s domestic that’s escaped ? What do you think?

Magnificent series of pics, Hannah! Just amazing to see how tame he is with you despite increased freedom!

He loves his mumma, I’m the only one who scratches him the right way in the right places!

My partner went to say hello to him and Sunny just bit his hand a few times (doesn’t draw blood).

If he's returning to the wild, then he shouldl gradually lose his trust for humans. I'd like to think a person would have a hard time actually catching him unless they used some kind of trap (or, maybe, lured him inside with food).

A coloured band would make people at least aware that this bird has some history with someone else. You could always write 'WILD BIRD' in black letters on the band? Also, it might deter anyone from harming him if they think he's connected to someone?

Good thinking, I will look into getting one!

jHpKGn0.jpg

Sunny isn’t allowed in the house anymore, In fact he hasn’t been allowed for a long time now. But if he’s around and I’ve left the door open for a second I will hear the little pitter patter of his feet. He loves coming in. He’s like a dog and sits at the patio doors taping on the window because he wants to come in so much!

All the Corellas are back around, which means Sunny has been here a lot again lately. But he does go off with them most of the time. He just likes to see me in the mornings and evening if I’m around.
He’s such a skilled flyer now, I love watching him when he swoops down to me. He’s funny when he flies off to his friends, he makes such a racket, squawking all excitedly.
He’s a very happy little fella.

He clearly does not believe in the phrase ”not allowed” [emoji23] I’m so glad to know he’s still around and okay and enjoying his dual lifestyle. Really amazing to watch.

Sunny really loves you Hannah! :07: The vid of him running to you and then wanting skritches is absolutely adorable!
Lovely pic's of him and the horsey btw :D

Another haul of exceptional pics and video! Sunny seems to be slowly acclimating to the flock, but still loves his Hannah!

Love the updates!!

Thank you everyone for enjoying our posts and pictures! Heres one from yesterday :white1:

Ive decided today ( I haven’t seen him today as I’ve been at work) that I’m going to really limit his scritches. He Loves my stokes and scritches, and he will still revive his favourite little rub around his eyes. however I’m no longer going to preen his pin feathers etc as it is only going to strengthen our bond and his love for me. Right now I don’t think he sees me as his mate as he isn’t obsessed with being with me 24/7 and spends a good amount of time being wild. So I need to keep it that way. He’ll have to go to his feathered friends for some good scratches and preening! Sorry Sunny :)
