My budgie flew out into a tall tree today a little distance from my house, I've tried enticing him to come down with millet and calling his name but I'm not sure if he even sees me because I'm under the shade of the tree. I've tried to get up higher on a ladder and using a long stick with millet on the end but he still doesn't seem interested and I'm still not nearly high enough. I placed his cage nearby but it's on a narrow, crowded road so I'm worried he won't notice it. Ive thought about getting a professional to climb the tree and catch him but i think it's unlikely to work because he's still afraid of unfamiliar people and especially hands. He doesn't recognise our house and I'm afraid he will fly away when spooked again. I'm really worried he will die out there, any help is appreciated.

Oh @skypie739, I'm so sorry your baby flew away!! It's happened to me a few times but by some miracle I've always managed to get them back. There's a good chance he might get picked up by a neighbour or get handed in to a vet clinic, so make sure you get the word out to all your neighbours and alert all vets in your area, not just bird specialists!
Below are a few resources for you that may help. I strongly recommend that you list on the Parrot Alert website, if you have already not done so. You can check it for "found" parrots too, just in case someone may have found and listed him. A number of our members have been successfully reunited with lost birds through that service ...

You can also post on local Facebook community groups for lost pets and/or birds, and do an old fashioned letter-box drop with paper flyers. I did just that years ago when I lost an Indian Ringneck and it resulted in him being returned to me on the very same day.

- A crossover Quaker Scuti (F), A Sun conure named AC, A Cinnamon Green Cheek conure Kent, and 5 budgies, yellow (m), clark Jr. (m), Dot (f), Zebra(f), Machine (m).
If it's still close put out a cage.....birds actually like cages, It might fly in for safety. Then go out before dawn and chack the cage.

I most certainly will! Don't give up too soon though, cos escaped birds often act very differently, he may very well land on someone's shoulder or turn up at someone's house looking for food or shelter. I read about things like that happening all the time, so all is not lost yet!I'll do that, thanks for the help.
