Sunny update! More photo spam!

Oh goodness, I can't believe I missed your video earlier! He's so adorable how he strides confidently across the floor, then runs over to you for scritches <3 too cute!

Tough decision to stop preening him, but it makes a lot of sense! He's such a sweetheart - it looks like he'll have no problem finding a Corella friend ;) to help him out.

Hannah, your instincts are so inspired! Do you see Sunny in companion with a potential mate often?

I must admit that I don’t, however none of the Corellas are really in mate mode yet, just in large groups mainly. And I do see Sunny fly overhead with groups.
I have seen him twice with single friend.

Sunny has been excellent at not being around all day lately :)

Here he is this evening after not seeing him this morning. I happened to look up and there he was skillfully swooping down to me :p

Look at his cute little crest that he has started putting up everytime he lands!

He must have been recently digging for roots and shoots with his friends before he came to visit me :p

I’ve had an awful awful day.
I Hit and killed a wallaby in my truck this morning on my way to work.
I’ll never get over it, the worse thing i’ve ever done.
I breaked so hard the car spun around, I felt every hit of his body.
He died instantly.

I’m so so so sorry beautiful little wallaby.

Sunny was waiting for me when I got home. I gave him a cuddle.

You poor darling! That was all you needed! I've hit 'roos and wallabies before and *nothing* takes away that horrible feeling. They have that awful habit of meandering onto the road, then raising their heads and just *looking* at you as you bear down on them. That moment of connection as you realise you're going to hit it - well - I wouldn't wish it on anyone!

All I can say by way of comfort is that (a) you had no choice: if you'd tried to swerve away, you'd probably have wrapped yourself round a tree and (b) the wallaby probably died instantly and didn't feel a thing. It really, really wasn't your fault, Hannah. It happens all the time and it's purely because of the internal combustion engine and nothing more. I'm sure Sunny would tell you the same thing. XX

Sounds like hitting deer around here.... they step into the road and just stare into the headlights. I hit one last summer, lots of damage, always sucks.

Thank you for understanding Bertrisha. I’m so devastated, I was coming around a corner and he was just slowly hopping across the road. I had no time, I did almost flip the car onto the verge as I breaked and swerved so hard. It didn’t feel real. I’m luckily there was not an oncoming car.
It was heartbreaking and inconsolable. I’m terrified to drive now.
The downside to living in the Australian countryside :(
Thank you for your kind words

I am so sorry, Hannah. Seems you were driving responsibly and had a terribly unfortunate accident. No doubt you are traumatized by the unintentional loss of a life, tbh it would rattle me to the core.

Glad Sunny was waiting to help console you. Taking this theme full circle, your immeasurable kindness to animals must account for something in the cosmos. Sunny would not be here today without your tireless dedication.

Oh Hannah what an awful day. I’m so sorry. *hug*

That's really awful. In Paris I was witness to a dog running into a busy street and getting hit by a car and then running head first into a 2nd car dead on. The bones crunching and the shrieks of the dog dying on the street as other cars hit it over and over will haunt me until the day I die. We we're walking on the street when it happened and us and another couple started freaking out and I was like running to escape the sounds of the dog while crying and throwing up and gagging. In my mind for some reason it felt like my fault in that instant....I do not know why. Anyways, I don't know exactly how you feel but I think I might a little.

Gosh I’m so sorry you had to witness that. Something, sadly you’ll never forget :(
Thank you for understanding and feeling my pain xx

Thank you so so much everyone for all being so kind and helping me feel a little better. I really appreciate all your kind words, it means a lot.

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICxAONCQUQs"]Sunny the Corella drinking straight from the hose. - YouTube[/ame]

Sunny is good and well, the weather is very up and down at the moment with winter on it’s way. Sunny seems to be coping fine with it all.
He’s here at the farm a lot for a few days, but then disappears for a few days off in the wild. Once this bag of bird seed runs out I’m not going to buy anymore, he’ll be very disappointed at no longer having a dinner time seeds but I think it’s the for the best as it’s only another month or 2 until the Corellas should be pairing off with mates.
