Well right now Saly is sleeping off a gargantuan meal of a slice of acorn squash. OMG what a pig for this. We weighed him after dinner. Slim little Salty at 292 grams weighed 317 !! Oh I know to weigh him in the morning ,after his morning glory (he has been around 302-298 pretty steady) I just couldn't resist after he glommed down that squash. And eager training too. We have been working colors a lot recently. Tonite, he retreived the colored ring I requested, and he did realy well. Sleep well, my little glutton.

Is there anything better than having your parrot slowly close his eyes while he receives a scratch from you? Salty rarely closes his eyes except to sleep at night, but give him a good head scritch, and slowly the eyes close, and he leans into my fingers more and suddenly all is right with the world. I've come to depend on him to be my stress relief after a especially bad day.

I know exactly what you're talking about buddie. ;)

Oh yeah, nothing like that paired with the claws wrapped around our fingers.

Congratulations!!!

Such a statement can only result in having a following, founded around a Star! And, Salty is clearly that Star!!!

Congratulations, Good Friend!!!

This is one of the best videos of Salty running thru some of his best tricks. Dated from Nov 2017, so it's not the up to date tricks, but shot by my son, who is a better camera man than I. Its on Dropbox in a public folder, I hope our members can see it.

You know, we do this kind of training every night, so sometimes I can get a bit jaded. This nicely done video makes me realize how special my little Salty is.

I had a really bad dream last nite, really bad. I had several parrots, including Salty, and living in some womans house. I came home to find that she had let all the parrots loose to fly away. In the dream I ran outside and was running around , calling for Salty. I woke up, cursing this woman, cursing badly, and sobbing. Geri woke up too, and tried calming me down. You know, I had to go to Salty's cage and make sure he was still there. That's the kind of pull parrots have on our inner selves.

I know how you feel. I often have dreams of Finley dying in his sleep cage at night where I actually wake up and have to rush to his room to see if he's alive. I sometimes cry myself awake...this happens about once or twice a month. I don't dream about Ollie dying but I suspect I do Finley because he has some issues and keeps developing more as time goes on and I worry if he'll turn out okay. Unfortunately, I don't have much advice to offer just sympathy.

I have similar odd nightmares... usually some variation on the Rb being savaged by dogs or other predators... and I either can't get to him, or I get to him too late. I wake up crying, too, Desi.
Makes me happy to see him when i wake up, though!
He really has my heart and soul, agreed, Mr. Wrench.
Awful bird!

Oh that’s just awful Al. My anxiety gives me nightmares and when I’m awake causes me to imagine my pets dying in any number of ways-some horrible in their manner and some only horrible because the result is my beloved baby is dead. Fortunately, they don’t cross-pollinate; the nightmares are more typical monsters chasing me, and more fortunately, a couple of anti-depressants make it all stop.

Today WAS going to be a big day for Salty and I, with plans to take him with me shopping and spend sometime in the local park, and see our vet to get his wings trimmed. Unforunately, its cold and raining, so its just the vet. Same for tomorrow, cold and wet. Grrrrrr. Will re-plan today, and do some in-home camping with Salty.

Nice! I like the yellow chain set-up! Baby would chew the wall if she had that!
Baby has a swing suspended from the ceiling but the top is an upside down plastic tub so she can't get to the ceiling...it's also a fun game to go to the top & hide her head!
Love the videos....
