Yeah, celery stalks bad, celery tops andleaves good. Have you tried brussel sprouts? Salty likes them every now and then.

Our amazon loved celery leaves. But the absolute favorite veggie was the core (seeds and ring of top flesh) from a red bell pepper. It was part food, part toy ... eat the seeds, eat the red pepper, then shred the rest enthusiastically. After he died, I cried every time I cut up bell peppers.

Well here is a thing that Salty and I haven't done ina while that we did last night- Watch talking parrot videos on youtube! I highly recommend this especially if your parrot is just starting or doesn't talk now. Parrots see video just fine and seeing other birds talking canhelp stimulate your birdy. Salty loves watching any ringneck videos, something about their voices gets Salty talking and immitating. He even introduces himself. Ringnecks and macaws are his favorites, and other amazons scare him! Saltys loves videos of one blue IRN named Sky who is really cute and talks up a storm. Who knows, we may kill another hour tonite too!

I concur. Mush says "Pretty Bird" and "Peek-a-Boo"just like a ringneck from watching youtube videos. She has also picked up some fun behaviors from watching birds from this very forum. I always subscribe when I see someone has a channel so Moosh and I don't miss the fun.

Yep, Bumble likes to watch videos of Koolaid the Parrotlet, and she’s learned a couple of words/behaviors from them. The cutest one: Koolaid plays peekaboo and his mom says one-two- and the K says threeeeeeeeeee! Well I was prepping the dogs for a walk one day, and I always count 1-2 as their feet go in the harness. From the cage I heard THREEEEEEEEEEEE! [emoji170][emoji170]🤣🤣🤣

Amy likes other Amazon tuber's...there is another BF Audie Murphy I think is his name and he's quite the chatter box and is very animated with the Stevie Wonder thing. Amy gets all poofed up and imitates Stevie Wonder and chatters rather vocally in 'zon speak as Audie rambles on.
Clearly Amy enjoys those vids...so do I! :D

I love that YouTube channel! Check out the videos of Bowie, the talking ringneck. Koolaid and Smokey are adorable! Also be sure to watch some African Grey talking videos!

TODAY WAS A BIG DAY !! Salty was hanging out on his bing after taking a bath when he said " Hi Geri. I Love You". Salty has been making little steps in being friendly with Geri over the last couple of years, he is up to giving her kisses and hanging out for a bit on her shoulder. But today I think she realized she is IN the flock, LOL. Very gratifying for me cuz I know how hard she has been trying. Way to go babe.

That's HUGE! I can identify because Aida (my wife) has been working on her relationship with Maya for a while, now. It's great that Geri's persistence with Salty has paid off!

Huge indeed! Geri must be over the roof with that lol. WTG Salty Boy! I see extra pine nuts in his future from Geri lol.

I gotta give her creds, she tries everyday to get her kiss or high five or to give Salty scratches (not there yet), and oddly enough Geri has been bitten far less then I. She deserves every kiss she gets.

Well, you give her plenty then. Remember, you're not too big to spank.

I think you meant to say “You’re not to big to spank, Cap’n Candle Butt.” [emoji23]

Always something new in the Salty nest. His latest? Pulling the papers from under his cage floor, ie the cage floor liner. Sheet by sheet, and then he looks at me, to say "Look what I can do! Aren't you proud of me?" I fix them only to have Salty do it again a few minutes later. If he wasn't so cute doing it, i'd be upset, but Nah.

It’s a parrot thing i guess. Nigel does that as well, shreds the papers to bits.

It's offical. Slate sings and talks mostly for Geri, let's me give scratch he's and cuddles and playing, and Erik , well Salty likes To root around in and thru his beard. We each have our little slices of his life, and that's fine because we each have a socialized part of him. And he will do his tricks for all of us.

Just a short video of Salty playing on his back in his new(ish) cargo net. He loves these, his first one started out about 1 foot by 1 foot and was reduced to about a 6" square by the time we chucked it out and got him a new one.. He works on freeing up one corner becasue then he can hang down and get onto the kitchen table. He spends a lot of time in that thing just playing on his back - I just happen to catch him for a minute or so. Enjoy.
