How much did you pay for your Macaw..

Seeing how much Macaws go for in Australia makes me feel a lot better for what I am about to pay for my B&G in Dubai. We are going to pay 15,000 AED which is about $4,100 dollars and that does not include toys or cage. But it does include all blood work, DNA, and all vet checkups, he is 1 year old. Being from the US, I know sometimes how much cheaper you can get a bird, but I have no choice, money is not the problem, he will be worth every penny, but just knowing that we can get something cheaper, sucks. I would have much rather rescued a Macaw from FLParrotRescue, but its more complicated.

Yeah, I feel the same way. *sigh* I even contacted the different departments here in Australia to see if I could buy a rescued macaw from the US to import into Australia, but sadly we still have a very strict import ban on birds. It's heart breaking to see how many birds are in rescue centers.

Be glad you are on the East Coast, WA have so many restricted birds. It's so hard to even get some of these guys brought in from the Eastern States.

Paid $1500 for one of our greenwings (handfed baby), $900 for the other handfed baby.... the other three greenwings, the blue and gold, and the Harlequin were given to us.

I live in Mumbai, India and out here my local pet shop sells macaws for 80-150 grands INR each, thats about $1500-2600 each depending on size and age. It's the same for both blue n gold and green wing macaws. If I go to the main supplier an hour's drive from my place, the prices should be $500 cheaper on each, i reckon.

WHOA!! No kidding?! I live right by South Bend, about 20 minutes away! Went to college there, actually (Notre Dame and Saint Mary's). Did you get him from a breeder?
I responded to you in PM.

We purchased Tiki, our Camelot macaw from a breeder south of us. He bred scarlets, but had purchased her to breed and have capri babies. She was 8 months old when we purchased her and she was $900. He had baby scarlets he was asking $1000 for.
