White Front sleeping problem

I would like that. Would give me a chance to see what is going on and the symptoms he is showing. The more we can figure out/learn about these guys the better off we all are. If we can figure out what your guys issue is we can help the next one even faster.

As for vit levels in a cook pellet it makes me wonder how high it really is. The more raw we can get into the diet the better. I really like feeding "chop" . I know what's in there and if it is balanced or not. Pellets around here are about 25% of their diet. Also with the new info on how GMO's are affecting the digestion of animals and humans I stick to organic.

Forgot to mention.. Harrison's is all organic with no preservs. or fillers or additives... so I think it is pretty good, but there IS nothing like DIY!

Thanks so much for the update, Bill, even though I was hoping for some good news for a change.

Perhaps it's worth a try to change Toots diet??? I 100% agree with Shelly about feeding as much fresh, organic, raw food as possible. Yes, Harrison's is supposed to be the best...here, I tell you a little story. It's not bird related, but I think it's still worth telling:

I had a Bernese Mountain Dogs with more health problems than you can imagine. He was on one of the most expensive dog foods on the market, yet he was at the vet CONSTANTLY. He had numerous sebaceous cysts, allergies, inverted hocks, and severe arthritis. I finally had enough. I took him off the meds for his arthritis, off the meds for his allergies, off pain killers, and started preparing his food myself. Mostly raw meat and other foods. A Berners life expectancy is 8, and we never thought he'd even make it to that. Well, he lived to be 11. No, his arthritis didn't vanish, his hocks weren't repaired, but his sebaceous cysts stopped growing, and he truly surprised us all. :) (The vet being the MOST surprised)

HHmmmm... thanks for the info JersyWendy! VERY interesting!
I will ask my vet about this!

I did call today and asked if it was possible if Toots had a stroke and the vet didn't think so because she thought that IF he had had a stroke, he would be having the balance problem all the time, not just when he slept (or tried to sleep).

I also told my vet that Toots has fallen off his perch the last 4 nights at around 5-6 a.m. (slouching over the perch he looses his grip). the vet didn't have any good answers but suggested placing a pad or pillow under him where he sleeps so if he falls, at least it is padded. I am going to use an old sofa pillow and cover it with a towel that I can wash.

I did give both my birds a mix of carrots/green beans/corn and they couldn't eat it fast enough!!! They devoured it all! So Toots's appetite is good and his poops look excellent!

Looked at the blood test again and the only thing that I saw was that his LDH is very low... I know this is diet... what can I do to get this up?

BTW... camera should still be available for those that are interested.. just let me know and I will PM the user and password.... I know JerseyWendy tried and wasn't able to log in, but I tried a few different settings so I hope it works now.
OR you might get better luck with firefox or (g-- forbid) IE.

DANG... if ONLY these guys could tell us what is ailing them!!!

Just watching Toots sleeping (2:45 p.m. here), he is slouching and resting his neck on his food bowl to keep his balance.... SOOOOOO hard to watch!

I do not agree with the bad balance all the time idea. I have a human friend who had a stroke just 2 weeks age and he is 100% fine, until he gets tired. Once he is tired his balance goes out the window. But I am not a vet so...

I would move all bowls and perches/ toys as low as they will go in the cage. Also see if you can tie a piece of polar fleece into a hammock to see if he will sleep init.

And yet another thing I forgot to mention...
1) He REALLY wants to be on my shoulder ALOT more (I don't do this too much because when he hurts, he bits my neck HARD).
2) for the last ~month, at night he regurgitates alot to me (it is not vomiting though) rather than perching. He doesn't do this when I am not around though.

These activities are new as he has been rather aggressive to me in the past... could be because he was hurting and thought that I was doing it... don't know for sure.

My Dad still thinks it is just because he is old... I don't think so though. Opinions???

Would there be any "markers" in his blood work that might show a stroke?

My first attempt failed...I'm working on it again. :)

DANG!!!
So you do get a light blue background page that has the title Willy's Security, and there a two boxes, one for user id and one for password and a button for login.
then when you enter the user name and password, click login, the page just comes back the same with both boxes blank?

I'm just trying to see if your even getting to my web server... sorry for the difficulty!
I added a second camera to the group for another view of his cage... they both should be viewable.

HOOORRAAAYYYY!!!1 IT WORKED!!!
Yes I saw that someone had logged in and was getting the stream! At least I know that it does work!

I am going to reduce the infra red lighting a little on the second camera (birdcam 2) as it is over powering a little, so there might be some disruption with the picture.
Feel free to watch and log in as much as you wish... sorry the quality isn't that good (cheap cameras) but I hope you can see enough detail.

The cameras are on 24/7 (or should be), so anytime if fine.. no need to ask.

Bill, I'm rather confused now. I just read up on LDH levels, and from what I gathered, liver disease, skeletal muscle damage and cardiac disease most commonly ELEVATE those levels. But you said Toots' levels were low, right?

Yes they are low... should be between 160-368 and the test showed 70 IU/L

I think that is why the vet doesn't see any organ damage/failure or possible stroke.

REALLY confusing!!!! Guess the Borna results might show more though.
Also, Monocytes is high should be 0-2 and results show 4%
Everything else looks very good! (I posted the PDF results in one of my other posts in this thread).
