I'm happy to hear this. Breeding budgies is a lot of trouble.

I cannot imagine! The stress would do me in. I have a one parrot household and luckily he has never exhibited hormonal rage in the 50 years I have owned him. He had one hormonal episode in 2009 (so rare I remember the year!) which took place 3 times over a one month period (again, so rare it is seared in my memory!). My bird was boning his bone toy and making quite the racket of weird noises. Never heard it before and once my husband laughed at the bird and shamed him, he never did it again. Those darn hotmone are such a problem! I have an issue right now with hormonal budgies. I have a group of 10 budgies that have out of cage privileges from 8am until 8pm, 5 boys and 5 girls. Three of my beautiful girls are very hormonal and so are three of my boys. The boys are chasing the girls around the room trying to mount them without even trying to court them and form a bond! I have to let them out to fly separately or my girls will either get raped or someone will get bitten! Of course the boys are not happy getting locked up while the girls fly free. I do not want any breeding!
You should have seen me chasing Tiki (boy) who was chasing Elan (my beautiful Lutino female) all around the room trying to get him to stop but he just couldn't control himself. Elan ended up hiding on a window shelf half hidden behind the drape. I couldn't catch him so I put a cloth over Elan and put her back in the large cage and closed the door to keep the horn dogs out. Both boys desperately tried to find a way into the cage. It's very stressful for me and the girls. Damn hormones!I cannot imagine! The stress would do me in. Maybe you need to laugh at and mock your horn dog budgies to shame them into polite behavior!![]()
