Well he hasn't "met" them yet... quarantine and all that, but he is verrrrrry excited by their little "meep"s and "beep"s. He has started a very awkward imitation of them... MEEEEEEP! BEEEEEEP!" Horrifying.
They will meet on or about 3-31-25.

Yes, every depraved rooster's fantasy... dainty, curvy twins.

Since I can hardly tell them apart, and since they are such an identical being in movement and habits... AND they'd never learn to respond to a different name .
I was stymied about names until I gave in and just dubbed them... The Beckys.

Becky was a worker at the bird store.

So I guess I have Becky 1 and Becky 2?

Or just...

Actually, she looked kinda like a zebra finch... petite, feminine stature, salt'n'pepper coiffure, pretty tangerine lipstick, perky behavior...

I am oft portrayed as a curmudgeon and a bird antagonist, in particular a mortal enemy of the Rickeybird. Not altogether untrue.

However, I actually LIKE the finches. They are tiny, cute, harmless, pretty.
There ya go. I stand redeemed.

Congratulations I admire that you are honest that you don’t have time for another parrot. There are some days that I truly feel overwhelmed.

I have longed for more birds over the years, buttttttt...

I just don't have time/resources/space/life expectancy (lol) to take on another parrot. Plus, the Rb is so intolerant, aggressive, and evil that it just wouldn't work.

Solution? Finches! Specifically, a pair of Zebra Finch hens, discovered and obtained on impulse (long story). They're in quarantine in a far end of the condo now but... I am enchanted!

They're wonderful. Beautiful, energetic, BRDZSZSZS!
I have challenges - converting to pellets, maximizing diet, designing cage, finding toys...
But just LOOK AT THEM!

This is a new adventure. It might be good for some of you in a similar situation.

You're right! That's part of what can make them ideal for some of us. A pair of them (male/female or female/female, I usually hear) is pretty maintenance free. Given space and toys and fruit/vegetable play items, they are perfectly happy! They are rarely hand-tame. But they are charming: perpetual motion, delightful "beeps", delicately beautiful.

The Beckys are all about THE BECKYS. Over time, the Rb has tried to mimic their little beeps... sounds like a nasal hiccup... pathetic. I'll get a vid if I can...
The Beckys pay no attention. The Rb spends a lot of time just staring at them. One eye, then the other. Y'all know how parrots do.
I guess this is, thusfar, an unsatisfactory harem.
