Pip got a perch today!
He was scared of it at first so I had to show him that it’s ok!

He cannot get up on it himself yet, but if I put him up their a few times a day to get his strength and balance up :)

He's such a little sweetie, and it horrifies me that anyone could have treated him and his former nestlings so awfully. I cannot even bear to think what happened to them. But Pip is a survivor and a fighter and I just can't wait to see what a handsome young man he grows up to be!

Little Pip is looking quite proud of himself on that perch! I love these updates. Keep them coming! I'm in awe of what you've been able to do for him. Hannah, you look so happy too, which you greatly deserve!

Incredible progress considering Pip's horrible beginnings. You are both positively glowing in those images!!

This thread gives me joy.

Thank you for the update Hannah! What a nice way to start my morning :) I love watching his progress, which has been nothing short of a miracle.
That's some huge trust sleeping so deeply in your hand like that! Then, right back at it. He's becoming such a busy little guy. So great to see!

Pip's progress is great, thanks to you, Hannah.

Hannah, thanks for continuous updates and awesome pics! Is Pip still on Phenobarb, wondering if that might make him sleepy at times?

Yes Pips still on the phenobarb, it’s hard to tell if it’s doing anything or not. I will phone the vet with and update next week. The vet did say it could make him sleepy if the dose is too high, but I don’t think Pip is any sleepier than he should be. It seems he doesn’t like to sleep in the day in his cage so only naps when he’s out on me. He still gets wobbly and uncoordinated around 6pm just before I put him to bed. He zonks out for hours but I quite often hear him having midnight snacks in the middle of the night!

Hi Jim!

Pips doing okay. He had a bit of an upset tummy the past 2 days with a clump of poop stuck to his butt in the mornings. He also lost weight. However this morning he was much more chirpy and didn’t have any poop stuck to his butt. We have a vet check tomorrow :)
He still wakes up at weird times of the night and decides to have midnight snacks !

That poop butt and weight loss is concerning, but glad he seems to be doing better..
If it makes him tired, I wonder if maybe that had something to do with it (less energy for efficient pooping and eating?)---glad you are getting him in.

My cockatoo often helps herself to random midnight snacks lol--at least if she hears me moving around---it's like "well, now that I'm awake, I may as well eat some food in the dark". lol

The fact that you are hearing him means that he is also hearing you---he probably does it more because he's not sleeping as soundly with people still moving around (mine is like that, even though she does sleep when I am up---it's just certain noises etc will wake her or prevent her from sleeping as soundly).

Haha love that noodles gets up for midnight snacks too :p
Pip tends so wake up regularly between 12am and 7am. And he tends to wake me up rather than me being awake stirring him. Vet recons it’s just all due to his neurological issues, who knows! Hopefully he’ll grow out of his weird sleeping habits.

Hope the vet visit goes well, Hannah. Wonder if Pip's issues are phenobarb side effects?

Darling little Pip, he's come such a long way, I hope this is only a minor setback and he can power on through! Good luck at the vet's tomorrow little man!

Possibly, but he has been on it for a good couple of weeks now. His dosage has also been downed by half in the past 5 days. It’s such a minuet amount that he has, I’d be suprised if it’s upsetting his tummy. He has 0.03

Sending good vibes to the little trooper, hope his vet visit shows improvement...he's determined not to give up thanks to you Hannah :07:
