hey all im glad to be here thanks for the various tips for my sun conure, sunny we believe hes male, and close to 2.. he amazes me everyday..he has come along away from when we got him a few months ago...nothing like the gal we got him from described..she said he hated men and was cage bound...the second day we had him he went right on my hubbys shoulder...now he is madly in love with my husband(makes me jealous as he was suppose to be"my" bird lol. he likes me when hubby isnt home haha. he is still a lil scared and jumpy, but for biting nice sized hole in my hubbys hands when u got anywhere close 2 months ago, to LOVES being petted,to wanting to cuddle and give kisses and etc....i love him and am so glad he is apart of our family..birds are just simply amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Preening, you don't need to post that multiple times, once will do. And if you have only had parakeets then a blue and gold is not a good choice for you, if you want something you can hold and cuddle try a sun conure, they are extremely cuddly.

Hi all!! I am new to the forum and the bird owner community. I have a Green Cheek Conure named Cleo. She is 4 months old and she is great. I never thought I would own a bird until I saw her. She was just bouncing her head at me the day we met. I have had her for two weeks now. I have never owned any kind of bird, so I am new too all of it. I have taken her to the vet to get checked out. Everything is fine. I am a stay at home mom, when the kids are at school I spend a lot of my time with Cleo. She can be very temperamental and she is not tame. She is scared of everything, so I am trying to teach her not to be scared. I look forward to learning anything and everything I can about conures and other conure owners

Hi there! I'm new to this community. I have a 12 yo CAG that we've had almost 2 months now. His previous owners' daughter was severely allergic to his dander and we were lucky enough to be chosen by him to be his new family. And at the end of June I should be bringing home a BH Caique! I'm very excited and I get to meet the baby on Thursday! I have browsed through the forums and have found wonderful information. I look forward to getting to know everyone.

Hiiiiiii! I have just received a Yellow Headed Amazon from a coworker that could no longer take care of it. I also got it for free! ahhhhh! I have a few questions but the first one is that she will step up onto my fingers (when she wants to of course) and recently while on my fingers she seems to put her beak around a few of my fingers as if to taste them? I am really not sure if I should be discouraging this behavior or not. And help would be greatly appreciated and I have a few others questions to ask as I get more accustomed to this site. I know VERY little about my bird I just know enough to take care of her and do everything I can to keep her healthy. Oh, and her name is Harley

I live in South Australia and there seems to be a lack of avian vets here and i dont know many bird people who arent just the type of breeder who doesnt care about you as long as you buy their things

It seems my quest for better advice and an attempt to find people who share my love of parrots has led me to this page.

I have an amazing hand reared ekkie and my brother has budgie too.

Welcome, Spenner. Yours is the first Rosella mention I've seen in my short time here. We caught this young guy last summer, and gave him away after two months, as he just wasn't relating to this flock.

Did you know there's a line of foods in OZ named Rosella? I'll post a pic soon.

Hi there I have a baby Sun Conure less then a year old, he's my first bird and I might be a little unsure on he's behavior some times not knowing what is the norm or not. He's name is Samson christian for 'as bight as the sun' thought it would be appropriate considering his breed. I hope everyone can help me and not overreacting in his strange ways lol.
