Oh, goodness! He is adorable!

I love his "Mommy?" right before he asks a question. He's so, so adorable!

How many words does yours know. Sorry to hear he didn't make it.

Thanks at least I tried. I am just disappointed that they are comparing him to Alex. It was a completely different category.
Alex was only able to say +- 150 words.

Mishka last word count was 1002 words, and has not been updated for 6 months.

Ah, that's a bugger. It's really unfair to compare him to Alex. It's also very sad as well - considering he was never given a "real" name
ALEX - Avian Learning EXperiment.

Will you try again in future; or are they counting Alex's concept of recognising 'objects, concepts, shapes, numbers' etc as a larger vocab count rather than Mishka's?

I will not attempt it again, as they are not considering Mishka's talking ability at all.

As they mentioned:

The most intelligent parrot is Alex, an African Grey Psittacus erithacus , who knows words for over 35 objects and seven colors. Alex also has a functional use of phrases and a distinction between three, four, five and six sided shapes. His accuracy has averaged 80% when tested on these abilities

I think that its not really fair to compare birds and their intelligence. Each bird has such individuality and are exposed to so many different stimuli that it is unfair to compare them. Alex was extraordinary in his ability to learn and his cognitive skills. Mishka is fabulous in his word accumulation and you have done such a great job with him. He is such a wonderful bird.

Thanks, Mishka in my eyes is a winner

Unfair to compare them, I agree

I think he calls me about 100 times a day, and heaven help me if I do not reply

hahaha - I can imagine! But, oh - who could resist is innocent and sweet, "Mommy?"

That is just sooooooooo wrong !!!!!! I demand a re count or whatever "they" the powers that be have done to come to this conclusion !!

I'm really sorry Antoinette :(. I thought it was a sure thing !!!

I may be wrong here , but ALEX is DEAD !!! R.I.P. Alex .
So , that would make Mishka the best ( living ) Grey talker.....wouldn't it ?

Still , they are just wrong :(

Mishka , your the best and don't let anyone make you think otherwise :)

I responded to the GBR, pertaining to not accepting Mishka's claim for Guinness World Record.

Claim ID: 380946
Membership Number: 333677

You stated
We do already have a record for this category and unfortunately upon reviewing your evidence what you have achieved does not better this. The current world record is:
The most intelligent parrot is Alex

The most intelligent parrot is Alex, an African Grey Psittacus erithacus , who knows words for over 35 objects and seven colors. Alex also has a functional use of phrases and a distinction between three, four, five and six sided shapes. His accuracy has averaged 80% when tested on these abilities.

It is a completely different category:

Alex was the most intelligent bird.
Mishka has the largest vocabulary for an African Grey.

Alex had a vocabulary of about 150 words. Mishka has a vocabulary of over 1000 words and phrases.

I give permission for Mishka to tested on his talking ability.

Yours Sincerely

Antoinette

Yea you should. If he knows over a 1000 words why wouldn't u

Will sleep over it and decide in a day or two.

Clearly mishka should have the record I just think they don't want to give you it due to the fact Alex sadly past away but that's no excuse mishka has a vocab of over a 1000 words and that in its self is good enough to be in the record books :)

Wasn't there a Budgie with a listed vocabulary of nearly 2000 words? I'm sure that was a Guinness record.

They may well be looking at the intelligence category rather than the vocabulary category for that reason.

A budgie who has a vocabulary of 2000 words that would be impressive but mishka is the local home boy and a true record holder in my eyes and i think that Antoinette has done a super job with him :D
