Mishka's attempt to be in the Guinness Book Of World Records

I hope they rethink your response and give Mishka a chance . His vocabulary is amazing and should be a record holder .

Wasn't there a Budgie with a listed vocabulary of nearly 2000 words? I'm sure that was a Guinness record.

They may well be looking at the intelligence category rather than the vocabulary category for that reason.

I have heard that Budgie talk, he is incredible.

I entered Mishka for the African Grey with the largest vocabulary, not for the intelligence category.
That is my query !!!!

I reckon Mishka deserves to be recognized for his talking talent.

Even if they aren't accepting it, it is not due to a lack of amazing vocabulary.
Since Mishka is only four, perhaps after another four years he will even pass up the vocabulary record holding budgie. Or they will allow a new category of records for Pet African Grey.
But, even if he never gets in the records, he has a lot of fans and one amazing mommy!

Thanks, it has been so worth the time spent teaching him, giving me so much joy and entertainment in return.
IRN's can speak, and beautifully, if given the time and devotion.
I know one IRN, here in S.A. that says over 50 words, and she is only 3 years old.
Just keep talking and talking and talking, asking questions, and giving replies, that is how they learn.
I bet your son was over the moon.
Keep up the great work, and soon you will have a 24/7 chatterbox to deal with.

i met the british guy from guinness when i was at university because he was my professor's friend. btw, he was rather cute and really nice! the guinness official, sorry i just cant remember his name, he was also on oprah for david blaine's trick.

You guys have stood by Mishka 100% being his biggest fans....................SO....................

I though about it for many many hours, read all your replies, and words of encouragement within this thread, and decided to appeal, against the Guinness Book Of World Records for rejecting Mishka's entry into the Guinness Book Of World Records for 'The Largest Vocabulary For An African Grey'

We do already have a record for this category and unfortunately upon reviewing your evidence what you have achieved does not better this. The current world record is:

The most intelligent parrot is Alex, an African Grey Psittacus erithacus , who knows words for over 35 objects and seven colors. Alex also has a functional use of phrases and a distinction between three, four, five and six sided shapes. His accuracy has averaged 80% when tested on these abilities.

It is a completely different category:

Alex was the most intelligent bird.
Mishka has the largest vocabulary for an African Grey.

Alex had a vocabulary of about 150 words. Mishka has a vocabulary of over 1000 words and phrases, which is increasing daily.

I have not come across a world record for a bird with the largest vocabulary.

I give permission for Mishka to tested on his talking ability.

Mishka won an international bird talking competition last year beating 60 birds from all over the world.
