Im a new budgie owner im getting my budgies in a weeks time..

Can anyone just give me some tips on how to properly care for them please
I would be so grateful and actually listen..
Im getting 3-4 budgies
I’ve bought a massive cage for them with a few birches, toys and other forms of entertainment
I really need some help as im so excited but im scared they won’t like me at all as I’ve seen so many budgie owners say they regret getting them because of how spiteful they are

Getting multiple birds can mean longer time for them to become interested in you, since they have each other. Budgies are even harder in these circumstances due to their flighty nature. Have patience, lots n lots of it. Remember - parrots are all about trust - always use that as the yardstick - does this build or break trust.

As a long time budgie owner I can say that while budgies tend not be very cuddly birds that doesn’t mean they don’t like you! My first budgie would step up, land on my shoulder etc. None of my others have been quite that friendly but I can still tell that they’re happy to see me when I come into the room. They perk up, fly, sing, head bob, etc.

I love budgies; they’re some of the happiest birds in general in my experience. A big cage is good as they are very energetic little birds! Make sure they have enough perches so that they won’t fight over them. The same goes for food and water bowls; with multiple budgies it’s best to have multiple food and water dishes to prevent fights and bullying.

If your new birds are already familiar with eating fresh foods like veggies, fruits, cooked egg, make sure to keep that up! If they’ve never had fresh stuff, introduce it right away and don’t get discouraged if it takes weeks for them to try it; they will eventually! Budgies tend to get overweight so it’s important that they have some healthy fresh foods in their diet.

Be patient, go slow, be calm. Talk to them, whistle, sing, hang out by their cage and they will learn to trust you and like you!
