Help cleo dying. Blizzard = no vet

Praying again that she makes it! And praying for you because this isn't easy at all :( So sorry you have to go through this!

Just got home from the vet myself and had to see how things are going for Cleo. I am keeping my fingers crossed that your girl comes through surgery like the trooper she is!! I hope so much that everything will be ok!

I'm so glad you went ahead and let them try surgery. I know it was a hard decision, but she seems like a FIGHTER!!!! You have a bird that wants to live. She just keeps hanging on. I hope they can help her because she is doing her part.

Oh my god... Turn of events not good or bad just confusing...

She was under anesthesia for 5 minutes. 5. Because they took the xray and low and behold there was not one single egg but some air pocket thing that should be there is not and her intestines are all over the place and bunched up weird. So bad apparently that that's why her belly was hard like there was an egg and it cut off circulation in her feet. No foreign objects or food. Just a mess.

Now I'm in the dark. Just paid for procedures that have nothing to do with her problem and am at a loss for words as to what the heck is wrong with her.

Bunched up intestines?!

Oh wow. So now they have to figure out what it is! An X-ray is one of the best diagnostic tools, so you didn't waste money on that. Praying they figure out what is causing this ASAP.

Yea true I guess not :/ but what could cause bunched up intestines to swell up and cut off circulation to feet out of nowhere? She was bouncing off the walls the day before. I'm so confused... Now I have no hope because I don't know what's wrong at all

Oh gosh, wonder if this is a known situation; congenital or caused by other factors? I assume they are going to collect their thoughts and either offer a diagnosis or need to do some additional testing??

I am so sorry this turn of events leads to more confusion.

Birds have very compact body structures. When any inflammation occurs it can immediately compromise circulation, like to the feet.

The cause of all the organ displacement is the root cause. It can be disease/infection related, a congenital defect, or the result of a trauma.

in the meantime they will have to restore blood flow to the lower extremities or that tissue will die.

What you're now waiting for is whether death has occurred internally, to part of the digestive system, liver, kidneys and of course the feet. If it has, gangrene and sepsis will set in. Those are fatal.

Oh no. Don't give up though, there may be something else they could do! Still, we are praying.

Oh, and if you need money setup a crowd sourcing for us to contribute to.

Oh gosh that sounds horrible! I hope it is something that can be treated I'm really worried now. I will be seeing the vet in the morning to go over the X-rays, the vet will be in the office. I have to miss my first day of classes now because there are no other times available before or after. Oh well, I just hope this doesn't empty my pockets. My family keeps warning me of a threshold I need to maintain and I'm like ugh. Like I want her to get better of course, I just hope this isn't something about to spiral out of control. I hope the xrays will shed light on the situation. I have to wait til morning and they will call me when the avian vet arrives.

I understand that more information can be overwhelming. However, as a hospice nurse I've made it my policy to tell people the truth so it isn't scary when you hear it in person.

So someone set up a crowd source and don't tell her. Then send money to vet anonymously. :) when my friends at church don't want my help even though they need it I just put it in their Bible when they aren't looking. :)

I really don't want to be seen as the bad guy for saying this, but due to forum rules -fundraisers are not allowed to be posted on the open forums.

You can open it elsewhere online, and just post a link here. Or you cannot even do that?
