Help cleo dying. Blizzard = no vet

You can open it elsewhere online, and just post a link here. Or you cannot even do that?

Unfortunately, no. Because there are those out there that would abuse the system if fundraisers were allowed, so the solution is to not allow them.

The OP is more than welcome to start a gofundme, or what have you, if she chooses, but it cannot be advertised on the forums.

I really don't want to be seen as the bad guy for saying this, but due to forum rules -fundraisers are not allowed to be posted on the open forums.

Ur like the cockatoo in "Rio". :(. Jk.

Most of the posts you've made in the past day or 2 have been hilarious, goalerjones.

As for the forum rules, like you, Shirre was just making sure to get the truth out there right away, no matter how unpleasant. Thanks, Shirre.

Doesn't mean some kind of fundraiser would be impossible to organize, however. It just can't be done via this forum. But there's no reason you can't arrange things on Facebook.

There's no rule against fundraisers. Just against posting them on the open forum.

Yea true I guess not :/ but what could cause bunched up intestines to swell up and cut off circulation to feet out of nowhere? She was bouncing off the walls the day before. I'm so confused... Now I have no hope because I don't know what's wrong at all

A impaction, usually from ingesting foreign objects. Synthetic fibers usually are the problem. Google Scott McDonald ,a travelling AV with several good articles about this isssue.

Any news so far?..

I had the impression Cleo's first visit with an "avian" vet will be today. (1-28) Perhaps a more detailed reading of the X-Ray by a radiologist will yield more clues?

Will be working much of the day away from internet access, but I will be thinking of Valerie and Cleo.

So, what's going on, how's Cleo??? You've been online, and I know quite a lot of us are eagerly awaiting an update.

They kept giving me the run around like her spine is malformed and she had splayed legs but she was FINE until now and the bill was way over the estimate and they wanted to keep her overnight another day but I held her she looked horrible still and there is no certainty about what's wrong with her I can't pay another half grand on top of the random sudden grand I now have already and her xrays just looked bad. Big bulge and her feet are so messed up....

I had to make the decision.... I even spoke to Mr McDonald and he said the outcome of her surviving was slim and that bulging scrambled intestines aren't normal and inoperable for her size like its just not meant to be I guess . I had to do what I think was best she looked like she was suffering and I remember watching tiki suffer til death in my hands I can't let her go through it too.

I just said goodbye to her and they took her away.. :'(

Big hugs to you right now Valerie :(. I understand what this feels like. I've had to do it before. This is so hard, especially considering what you recently went through with Tiki. Seems unfair I know. We are here for you for support... also Baby and Merlin would like to comfort you too I'm sure. Hang in there. It's tough.

I am so sorry to hear this. I wish I could give you a real hug. I'm so sorry you had to say goodbye but understand. She was very lucky to have you.

Valerie, you did what was best for Cleo. She was in pain and suffering and the responsible/humane thing to do was what you did. After the pain you went through with Tiki so recently this has to be hard. Hugs to you! So sorry about Cleo.

Did you have a necropsy done on Tiki? Was this a genetic issue??

Oh Valerie.... I'm crying with you. My heart is broken. There are no words to comfort you in this situation. (((BIG-BIG HUG))) why did this had to happen again?!
I had one thought bugging me as I was thinking a lot about you and your birds. Tiki died of anemia, Cleo had something internally wrong... came from the same parents, same genes. Do you know about other kakariki owners who got their birds from this breeder and same parents? Maybe the other babies are sick and have died too? Could there be some genetic defects (maybe inbreeding?) coming from that breeding pair? Maybe you should talk to that breeder and inform him/her about your losses. If Cleo had splayed legs and other deformities the breeder should not have sold her to you, or if he did he must have had informed you.
It's just a guess as we always look for reasons... Two birds coming from the same parents dying within one year from inborn defects - that should raise a question. I could be completely wrong - it's just a thought...

Oh no. :( I am so sorry. That choice is one of the hardest choices to make. But she will be in no pain and she will see Tiki and they will be waiting over the rainbow bridge. Im really sorry though. I am crying too. :( We send hugs your way. But I agree with veimar, maybe this breeder is not so good? idk, it doesn't really matter now. :( Cleo was beautiful and sweet. We lost an amazing bird today. :( I don't know why the good die young. :(

Oh I'm so sorry for you - that's heartbreaking. Sending you lots of hugs.

Fly free, sweet Cleo.

I was thinking the exact thing!

I am sorry for your loss but at least she isn't suffering any more.:(
