Help cleo dying. Blizzard = no vet

Merlin is likely experiencing separation anxiety and what we would perceive as grieving. Watch him carefully to ensure he is eating/drinking. If he is hand tame you may wish to hold him closely. This is a process you can endure together.

I'm so sorry for your loss, I cannot fathom into words the pain you must be going through. The most important thing is that you did your best

Oh my god. I was just reading online that worms in the gizzard can really mess up the INTENSTINES, and cause SUDDEN DEATH. And not wanting to eat and some weight loss! She had that!

Someone please explain to me about worms! And worming! I read more that grass keets and Kakarikis and other types of small parakeets etc. Are prone to worms and parasites because they like to forage on the ground!

Did the vet confirm she had worms?

No they didn't but it just came to me as an afterthought and I want to be prepared now with my current and future birds. I am scared maybe she had worms? I only just learned of it online.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Time heals, I felt exactly like you two weeks ago, numb and crying. Tufts University has a pet loss hotline you can call after 6pm to vent and talk to future vets about your loss. It helps to talk it out. Feel better.

It's so hard to say at this point exactly what it was that Cleo had :(.
But, as for your future bird, at the new bird vet appt, part of the exam should be a fecal test. Make sure they screen for parasites as well. If any are found, don't worry, they'll prescribe meds to rid of them (as in any pet). Yes, grass parakeets do more commonly come with worms from the environment they were born/raised in since they're ground birds much of the time. When my mom got her Bourke's he had worms (I'm sure from the breeder before the bird store where he was from). It was an easy fix.

Oh..wow... I just read this thread. How heartbreaking for you, to lose your baby like this. :( I am so very sorry for your loss....
