We made it home safe! It was a 230 mile round trip to the rescue, but well worth it as always. We brought Teka with for them to take a look at his beak that seems a bit wide on the bottom. They were very happy to see Teka again since he came from the same place (actually same room 3 cages over), and his beak is doing fine. He was a bit aggressive after the ride there and bit one of the workers. We still have a bit of stocking up to do because we had planned to pick Ruthie up on Thursday. But for now she is doing fine. It took about 30 min to let her calm down from the drive and have her step up from the travel crate. She just had a welcome home pecan and now she is in her cage for the night.

Wow...congrats with bringing home that beautiful parrot!! She looks like she is so into you both she would not look at the camera. All we get to see is the backside of her. How cute!

I will be looking forward to seeing more pics and stories of her adjustment. Thank you for sharing her story with us.

Thanks. It sounds like her first night went well. More pics after the lights come on.

YAY!!!! Congratulations!!!

Ruthie looks STUNNING!!! Now I can't wait to hear stories about her, and how she's settling in. :)

Great pictures, ALL of them!!! I bet you guys can't wait for the lights to come on now. :D

I'm sure the fact that Ruthie is so quick to adjust in new situations has been keeping everyone's stress down. She seems quite contented considering she's just arrived. And wow, she's a remarkably pretty bird!

Mucho congrats!!! :)

You are so right Tony. She is a very relaxed Macaw. Her temperament is the number one reason Jenna likes her so much. Her tail feathers are a bit rough but those will come with time.

We took the risk last night to see if she would accept a shower. She did great and seemed to enjoy it, even in such a new and scary environment. We know that was risky but she just came from the rescue filled with many other birds and we don't think she has had a shower in quite some time. We wanted to get her clean as soon as we could, and again were lucky to be able to do it so quick.

I'm sending this from class right now. Jenna just sent me a message that Ruthie is already throwing her fleece ball around her cage. JACKPOT!

Good morning photo.
