I might be posting in the wrong section, but I was wondering if its okay to give parrots coconut milk? I bought myself some natural Silk coconut milk, only 80 calories per serving. Anyway, I was drinking a glass and I turned my back on Furbie for one second (I know, stupid of me) and he had taken a few sips of my coconut milk. He seemed to really enjoy it, would it be okay as a treat?

I'm pretty sure it is safe, obviously only in very small amounts and not often, but it shouldn't hurt them. Check the amount of sugar in it, that's the only thing I can think of that may be unhealthy. I drink a lot of silk soymilk and our conure loves to fly over and steal sips every now and then :) I know soy is on the iffy list but he only gets a tiny bit, less than once a week. I actually don't go out of my way to give it to him, but like I said, he's a crafty little guy and will steal some every now and again. :p

Coconut is very healthy! I'd read the ingredients of the product you're drinking, check the sugar, etc, to see how healthy it is, but coconut itself is very healthy. It has prebiotics in it, which are food for probiotics in the gut, so good for digestive flora.

Coconut milk & soy milk should be okay in small amounts. We feed them coconut chips, and soy beans, right? As said, the sugar is the worry.

My dads macaw used to love the milk from coconuts when we bought them for her we would put a hole in it drain the milk let her have a little bit and then crack the whole thing open and give her the whole coconut to eat it is one of her favorite treats. So far she is happy and healthy and we have been doing that for 7 years
