Bumble was giving me an opinion of my screen time tonight. I had my phone down and was giving all of my attention to her. She was a sweet little lovebug. I picked up my phone and focused a little of my attention away. She DASHED over to my right shoulder, where she knows she’ll get my attention since I won’t let her be there (she chomps on an earring on that side). Bit my finger instead of stepping up when I tried to get her. I put down my phone and got the prettiest step up you could ever ask for. She pulled this maneuver several times, so I know that putting the phone down was the cue. Such a brat! And so smart.

So ages ago (probably 18 mos or more?) I built a PVC play gym for Bum. It’s gigantic. I’m not an engineer or a designer or anything. I wanted it to be tabletop sized but it’s not. Oh well. Anyway. Bumble took about 6 weeks to really be comfortable with it, but since then, she loves it. But really only the highest perch and the front perch that sits close to me when I’m in my chair.

But this week, she’s realized there are a whole load of other places to sit! I’ve been surprised to see her trying out some new locations. And tonight, for the first time, she climbed down the rope net and chomped on a toy that’s been there since day one. I’m thrilled she’s finally figured it out!

Hmmm, sounds like she has been testing the stand all along and first the upper and then the lower section have finally dropped to a low enough level of radioactivity to allow full use. Life with a Parrot is a constant road of acceptance...

Really good reminder. It just shows to go ya: sometimes it pays to have endless, endless patience. She just had to think everything over. I mean, geez, it really *IS* quite a big piece of real estate there. She's like "I hereby claim this whole thing in the name of Bumble-ing". Atta gurl, Bumsy.

She went with me last time I went for a couple of weeks. It was great. My sister made sure the house was bird safe, everyone adored her, and I didn’t spend a single minute of my vacation worrying about her. I don’t know why people wouldn’t want to take them-although Bumble is pretty easy going and not really upset by a change in surroundings or routine as long as she’s with me.
