Pak-o-Bumble arrived. With the assistance of the ever useful millet and also sticking my head into it to ensure there was nothing scary, it only took 2 brief sessions to get her in. I’ll keep acclimating her to it so hopefully she’s comfortable when we leave for Virginia on the 16th.

It helped Salty backing him into it the first few times. Now he jumps right in, cuz that means we are going out.

Yep, I slowly moved her and the millet into it backwards. Then I let her just sit on my hand with the millet for a bit, and then she let me put her in the perch. I was even able to take the millet out and replace it with a toy and she stayed and chewed on the toy. She was probably in there for 90 seconds, but it’s s good start and we’ll just add it to our evening routine.

I also did some work with her harness tonight. Put it in my fingers, remarked on how good I looked, and then lured her beak through using - yep more millet. She did get her head about to the little eyeballs through, so that’s great progress.

So interesting how is doing something influences them. Eating (or pretending to eat) a new food she’s unsure of, sticking my head in the carrier, putting the harness in myself. Birds are weird. And super.

That carrier is awesome - what size did you get for her? She is going to travel great in that!

It’s an x-small. As you see, it’s PLENTY of space for her.

Inger, who made the BUMBLE patch in the front? That is way cool. On the harness - good work, just keep moving the treat further and further away, so she has to put more and more of her head thru. It took Salty months and months of trying every night, get him comfortable sticking his head thru. Funny thing, when actually putting the harness on him, we dont use that method to get it on him. The training is more useful to get her used to the feel of it on her. When training, I keep the wing loops very small and just lay them over his wings, let him walk around a bit and slowly and carefully give him the OFF command while gently removing it. Bumble lets you handle her quite a bit, right? She will need that skill when actually putting the harness on. Go Bumble !

If you order from the Celltei website, they will embroider for an extra fee. Since they were $20 off on Black Friday and the fee was $28, I couldn’t resist.

Her harness is from Leathers4Feathers and it doesn’t have wing loops. I’m in a Parrotlet group on Facebook and a lot of the other parronts there use and love them. Video below. I can handle Bumble, but I’ve always avoided touching her wings because I don’t want her to love me that way! [emoji33][emoji23]

Recently I told you about Bumble’s new word, “three” when I count one-two while putting the dog’s harness on. Since then we’ve practiced and most of the time she’ll say it anytime I say one-two. Except, of course, when I’m trying to show her off haha! Anyway - prior to taking the dog out for his walk, I’ve always said, “who wants to go potty?” This morning when I said that, I instantly heard “threeeeeeee threeeeeee!” Gave me a smile-much needed since walking one dog is much too easy, and talking about my dog instead of my dogs still feels very unnatural.

Bumble is as cute as a button, I can imagine her saying that in her high little voice.
