Bumble-ing Along

Bumble looks adorable trying to fit her tiny self into that bowl :). Happy holidays, I’ll bet she’s glad to be with you while you travel!

That makes sense, I was thinking how much damage my flock could do in a plane!
I can see her flying off and lights going on all over the cabin for a flight attendants help.

Well, my Amazon would be easy to find on a plane!!! Just locate the Food and Drinks storage area, and that would be Amazon Central!!! If nothing else, he is very predicable! Damage would be limited too that area! :D

Nothing like a 'Smile Time, in the Bumble-ing Along Thread!!! Makes my day!

Awww, I bet Bumble is thrilled to be included in all the festivities. She is determined to take a bath!

Gee, Bumble is the best ambassador i could imagine, for the world of parrots. Everybody will want a Bumble!

Yeah and I make sure to do everything possible to talk them out of getting a bird-if I tell them everything and they still want one, *maybe* they’ll be good parronts!

Same here, Inger. I tell them you really gotta LOVE parrots to devote a life to one, or more.

We had to order an emergency cage for Bumble, so my niece said “We should get a bird when they leave!” Now, she would actually take great care of a bird- she’s a true animal person-but she’s 16 and I told her (1) I don’t know WHAT bird should be stuck in a cage this small its whole life, (2) budgies can live 15 years and she’s not really in a place to make that kind of commitment. And then I tossed in “You have to cook for them” and she’s out for now [emoji23][emoji23]

Very, very, VERY good cautions!

Same general reason I love AND HATE the movie "Paulie"... he's a stupendous (but thoroughly unrealistic) "ambassador" himself, ya know?

At least Bumble is a real bird... although a best-case angel of a bird.

The Rb is an anti-ambassador.

hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Hahaha! Oh Bumble has her anti-moments too. She gave my brother-in-law a good chomp tonight. I did tell him it was 50/50 whether she would nibble or bite [emoji23][emoji23].

And RB performs the great service of running off the holiday guests!!

Virginia update: All is well, we’re having a great time, and I’m so very glad I brought Bumble with me. It’s wonderful to have not spent a single moment of my vacation worrying about her.

She has been super sweet and has enchanted almost everyone. The exceptions are the two terrier mixes and possibly my brother-in-law, who doesn’t understand why I move her from room to room so she isn’t alone. Although to be fair, he didn’t question her cage being ON the dinner table while we ate one night [emoji23][emoji23] It’s a high table so the dogs can’t get to her if we leave the room for a minute, and we just didn’t move her to the counter while we ate.

She also showed her “Stinker” side this morning. I mentioned that when we were on the way home from the airport and my sis was making beeping noises, Bumble immediately started beeping back (new behavior). Of course, sis has been trying with almost no success to get her to repeat this. So this morning everyone left to see Star Wars. I stayed behind because I don’t really care and also two hours to myself! The MINUTE they all got out the door - beeeeeeeeeeeeep beeeeeeeeeep beeeeeeeeep! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Of course. They always talk, sing, make animal noises when they know no one is around. Glad your trip is enjoyable and Bumble is having good time too.

Yes, so typical parrot behavior! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Interlude: North Carolina! My boyfriend’s dad and stepmom live there. They wanted to see me, so this morning my stepdad, sister, daughter, niece #1, her boyfriend, niece #2, Bumble and I all loaded into the Hyundai Santa Fe for the 6ish hour drive south. It’s a touch crowded in here, and agreeing in music will be difficult. Thank heaven for the Pak-O-Bird.

The 7 humans and Bumble are currently sardine-packed back into the Hyundai Santa Fe and headed back to Northern Virginia. The time there was great - my MIL and her bestie are both bird people (MIL had a BFA which she rehomed with the bestie). When I remembered to ask about non-stick cookware, my MIL told me that’s almost all she had so she cooked our dinner before we got there and dug our her cast iron and one ceramic pan to accommodate us. They were both COMPLETELY enchanted with Bumble, and the bestie kept offering to trade birds with me. Ha. Fat chance, lady! They really enjoyed how quiet she is in comparison to an Amazon. My 4 year old niece also held Bumble under close supervision and Bumble behaved perfectly [emoji7][emoji7]

Then a quick stop at my aunt’s on the way home where she again stole hearts! My cousin’s husband said he wants a bird now, but since my cousin is NOT interested, I didn’t have to give my “here are the reasons you don’t” lecture.

I continue to find that the pak-o-bird is worth its weight in gold. Absolutely no buyer’s remorse! For anyone thinking about it, if you can afford it, do it!

We leave Virginia on Monday morning. It’s hard to believe that our trip is almost over, but at the same time feels like we’ve been here forever. It’s really been amazing to have this time with my family and I’m so so thankful that my sister was cool with my little friend coming along and In fact says she has enjoyed having Bumble around.

Oh and Bumble has a new word. I have NO IDEA what it is, but it’s 2 syllables and sounds different from “tickle.” She’s also kept on with beeeeeeep which my sister loves and takes credit for.

And we’re safely home! Bumble was happy to see her boing and her roomy cage. I am SO glad I took her-thanks to all of you who encouraged me!
