You’ve read where the wild things are, right? I often say to her “I’ll eat you up, I love you so!”

Keep in mind that she’s barely a bite haha! 31 grams, which is about 1 oz. including feathers [emoji170][emoji170]

It is likely a wonderful thing that only a few get this Bird /Human thing! To think, 31 grams can bring such warmth without moving a single feather! Blessed we are, truly Blessed!

Bumble went in to see the vet to get her health certificate to travel this weekend. She was SO good for both the vet and the tech - hopped right on the scale when I tossed a seed on it, opened her mouth so the vet could see in, and only got a little feisty when her "lady parts" got looked at. She even did a couple of flips and a spin on my finger for the vet's amusement. The very best part of the visit? I got a HUGE compliment from the vet: "She's obviously a well-adjusted bird." Yay!!! And a lot of that is thanks to what I've learned here. I restrained myself from saying, "Well I made all my mistakes on my human kid" haha

We’re on our way! So far the only snags have been (not the fault of the parrot):

I got my nails done up all Christmas festive. Bumble is NOT impressed and won’t have anything to do with my hands. That makes her a bit tricky to manage, but so far so good. If she doesn’t come around in a few days, the nails will come off.

The smaller (but still quite roomy) cage I use for overnights - well, I thought the side panels came apart and the whole thing would easily fit in my suitcase. Well, nope. It folds down flat. My needle nose pliers are not in my toolkit (they got used at my boyfriend’s house), and I wasn’t certain the bars would survive bending out and back anyway. So Amazon to the rescue!! A cage will be delivered to my sister’s house today.

Finally, apparently I was supposed to be escorted through security, and I didn’t know that. The screening people were very nice though. They took me into a small private room, she had to come out of her carrier and they took it back through screening. That was nerve wracking, especially with her flying away from my hands. The ceiling was slats with open spaces. They were angled in such a way that she couldn’t have flown through, but all the same. Thankfully, I have more than one trick up my sleeve to manage her. I took the container of millet out of my carry on and let her have at it!

We’re now safely at the gate, although since I got about 4 hours of sleep, I’m doing to go in search of Starbucks!

The best laid plans, right?
I am so glad that you and Bumble have made it though security and that the new cage will be delivered today to your sisters! What did the security people think of Bumble? Bet she stole their hearts just like she has ours.
I hope you two have a wonderful, uneventful flight:)
By the way, I so LOVE Bumble's carrier!

Never a dull moment with little Bumble,eh?? ;)

They loved her, as did everyone near me on the plane and several people in the airport. [emoji1]

We have arrived safely at my sister’s house. The VERY small emergency cage had arrived and was put together. I wish it was bigger, but for 2 weeks it will suffice.

Bumble was a great traveler. When I first pulled her out from under the seat, she was obviously scared-looking sleek and holding very still. She quickly calmed down though. We shared a fruit cup from Starbucks and she played and chirped and charmed the two men sitting next to me. She even fluffed up and I was beak-grinding for a while.

The Pak-o-Bird is FANTASTIC. X-small fits (mostly) under the seat even standing up, and perfectly in lap and on the tray table.

And....when we were in the car, my sister was telling me about the different warning chimes the car made and at one point she said beeeeeeep beeeeeeep and from the carrier we were rewarded with beeeeeeeep right back at us! We all laughed very hard and my sis was won over. ❤️❤️

I'm so glad you guys made it safely!
So you were able to have her out of the carrier during the flight? I would have loved to have seen your seatmate's faces!
Beeeeep...that so cracked me up! Bumble didn't waste any time in gaining even more fans!
I hope you have a fantastic visit:)

Nope-just like other pets she has to stay in her carrier. And since I haven’t been able to harness train her that could have turned into a complete nightmare! Ha!!

That makes sense, I was thinking how much damage my flock could do in a plane!
I can see her flying off and lights going on all over the cabin for a flight attendants help.

Exactly! It makes me laugh to think about the chaos, but I don’t think it would be funny at all in real life!

Things are going well here. Shoutout to my sis for her parrot-safe efforts. All of the Christmas candle holders are spread around the house-totally free of candles. Everyone has been warned to only use the stainless steel cookware. My niece forgot but caught herself and immediately switched. Bumble is charming everyone. The cage she’s in is embarrassingly small, and while Bumble has NEVER bathed in her regular, roomy water dish (preferring the kitchen faucet), today she tried to take a dunk in her 1” square bowl [emoji849][emoji23] Picture below. I am SO glad I brought her-it’s nice not to spend a single moment worrying about her. And I’m VERY appreciative of the lengths Sis and family have gone to.
