Aviary Life

I love this pic of Levi a whole lot more than the previous! (with mask) Glad to see he's on the mend. Hope you get some sleep Dani, so important on every level!

What a week youā€™ve had! I hope itā€™s all smooth sailing for a while. Rest as much as you can and feel better. Wish I could help.

Happy Valentineā€™s Day everyone! My husband came home early (about 8pm) and gave me the wonderful gift of going to bed early after a hot cup of tea.

In yet another non-bird related post I wanted to share a couple of pictures with you! After 3+ years of living with my family the adoption of my newest siblings was finalized today!

My parents have five biological children alive and two in heaven.

Allie and Carter officially joined the family in 2013 but had been with us in foster care for quite a while.

In 2015 these kids came to us ā€œfor two weeks at the mostā€ but thatā€™s not how things turned out! Itā€™s been a long road but Iā€™m happy to introduce Isaiah, Christopher, Colton, Shawnteah, and Marcus :)

The group picture is my parents, their adopted kids, three of their bio kids, and my brotherā€™s wife. I wasnā€™t able to be there with my husband and son, and one of my brothers wasnā€™t able to make it either. Plans are in the works for an entire family photo hopefully in June!

Ps the reason this is the first time Iā€™m mentioning them specifically and sharing pictures is because there are laws about names and images of children in foster care; but they arenā€™t in foster care anymore!

These are the most beautiful pictures Iā€™ve seen in ages. Thank you for sharing them with us!

Itā€™s why I am the way I am lol.

In all seriousness, a lot of my hard held philosophies on how birds should and should not be raised are based on what Iā€™ve learned growing up with abused and neglected kids. People are in prison for what they did to these kids, and we do a lot of the same things to birds without ever realizing what we are doing.

My ringnecks are nesting but no eggs yet, the tiels are enjoying their break. Syl, the new tiel, is adjusting to life around a toddler, and everyone who was sick is healthy now :)

Also I counted. The current number of species (not including humans or things we want to kill like ants) is
Dog
Cats
6 kinds of birds
25 kinds of tank dwellers
33 non human creature species lol.

Well this member of your internet flock LOVES it.

Snail babies! So amazing! And a tiny bird egg too. So now that youā€™ve counted up the number of species, how about the total number of each?

Soooo these three... they are foster fails. Itā€™s a long story but basically I was supposed to be fostering them and then they just fit in so well to my flock community... and you know Iā€™m
A budgie addict who has been surviving on one budgie for far too long...

So cute! Are they English budgies or standard? I've been hankering after an English Budgie after I first learned about them on the forum!
