Hello,

There doesn't seem to be any consensus on what spacing is appropriate for a lovebird. Would 5/8'' be okay? Has anyone had any experience with this spacing for their lovies cage?

Thank you!

The spacing between the cage bars is very important as if they are to wide, your Parrot could hang itself, it to small the cage and appear dark.

The best way to define bar spacing for your Parrot is to determine the distance between the center of their eye's from the front (beak side). Larger than that distance, the more the likelihood of an accident!

I think the distance is roughly 2cm, do you think that is going to be okay?

Hello,

If the distance between his eyes is roughly 2cm will he be okay?

5/8" space would be equal to 15.9 mm.

Assure you are measuring center of eye to center of eye.

My background in metic is based in EU /NA Engineering and only work with mm and meters.

I believe the spacing is 1.7mm to 1.8mm? I can't get a good measurement because he moves around too much :(

(Sorry I don't really know how to navigate this forum yet :()

If you can get your finger close to his bill, try spotting the difference between the tip or first knurl of your finger and measure that distance.

I would think this is more of an industry standard. This cage site says 1/2" or 12.7mm for love birds.

My ringneck cage is 5/8" and he does his push his beak through the bars, opens it wide and gets some facial stretching in.
