Should I get more birds?

Hi, I have two female kakarikis (Lottie and Per). They had a male friend who suddenly passed away 3 months ago (Artie). Artie and Per were always close but they left Lottie out. Despite this Lottie still loved them both and would try to join in. Since Artie's passing, neither bird has been the same. They have always been free in our pet room and have never been locked in the cage. Lottie now hides in a box at all times and only comes out for food, she screams at us if we try to get her out or move her. Per always looks sad and doesn't play anymore like she used to. We are not against getting more males but if they don't get along we don't know what we will do as we have no space for extra cages or to put them in a separate room. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Can I just ask what difference it makes how Artie passed?? I’m just a little confused
