which mini macaw is for me?

I had a Noble Macaw for almost 18 years. His name was Mihijo and he was the best parrot ever. Very tame and loved people. Anyone could handle this parrot and everyone loved him. He spoke very well and was very talented learning tricks and behaviors. Personally I found the Noble to be less nippy than a Hahn's but to be fair Mihijo was never nippy..ever. The Noble noise level was very tolerable as I live in a town home and none of my neighbors ever complained about him or my Illiger's noise levels.

I also had a Illiger's macaw for almost 10 years. Diego ended up being a one person bird due to my fault. When I got him my avenues for socialization were cut off because of Newcastle disease and then the bird flu scare stuff. Poor Diego did not get as much socialization as Mihijo because I could not bring him to the places I use to bring Mihijo. Diego was also a great talker and both him and Mihijo use to have conversations with each other while I was upstairs working.

I really loved both my mini macaws. They were both very different in personality. The noble was way more laid back while the Illiger's had a much stronger personality. Both appreciated for their differences but together made quite a nice balance in my flock.

If you want to know more about Mihijo my Noble or Diego my Illiger's just ask. I do not mind writing about them at all.

Like everybody else, GET A HAHNS. Srry they are just so freakin cute. They could talk and I knowa few wh could. To me they look like a green fluff ball with a patch of white and a big, giant cute beak! They just love to snuggle and a good life span.Even tho they scream they pack a macaw in a fluffy body!

What about a larger conure like a Mitred or a Blue Crown? They can be great talkers and any that I have known were very cuddly.

I would advise you more in the direction of the SI Male Eclectus as shown on my profile picture. Male Eclectus are approx the same size of the mini Macaws. The Male Eclectus is a great talker. They are known to be very sweet. Great with kids. They are not nippy or known to be biters. They thrive on interaction with the Family but they do very well just hanging out on a playstand or Gym.
I take both of my boys with me everywhere I go. People are drawn to me when they see the size of my Huge Green Wing but when they meet my Eclectus, they fall in love. Guapo is my Eclectus and goes to everyone, the first thing he does is great people with a kiss lol.
If you really have your heart set on the mini macaws, I would advise you on the Hahns or Noble macaws. Best of luck Joe
