Cockatiel (Cinnamon Pearl Female Rescue, She's almost 7🥳🥳🥳 Name :Blossom)
Budgies (Rescues that died of old age😭😭😭 Names: Baby and Sweetipie Rip)
Well, I have a small outdoor aviary here FL with 1 tiel. I upgraded it to an 8x10 and will hopefully be adopting some budgies, bourkes, conures, and doves soon. But I always really liked big birds. I know this may be the wrong place to ask but could I possibly adopt an Amazon, Eclectus, Macaw, or an African Grey, just 1, and add it with the other birds I am adopting sometime in 2025? My tiel is very gentle, she has been bullied by budgies, so I really don't want her hurt. Which of the large birds can get along with my list, if not it's fine, and if they can what specific species, thx.

you seem very knowledgeable and you are sure your tiel is safe in an outdoor aviary in Florida?
Will she live out there all the time?

My birds might survive that, but I never would.

Thats a nice size aviary :-) I am in Florida also and have 2 GCC, a macaw and an AG. I house all of them separately but they can all see each other. I am on the nervous side putting my larger birds with my small birds just because they are so fragile, even playing a large bird can kill your tiny ones. if you want a bird larger then a Tiel that may be good maybe a Senegal type size? I wish you luck and keep us posted.

Ya I would not mix a Macaw with Conure size birds. Without intention the bite force of a Macaw could scissor a Conure, or any small bird in half.

Thanks, I had heard about Macaws, Cockatoos and Amazons being aggressive, but I was more curious about Eclectus Parrots because apparently they are gentler

She has been living outside in Fall and Spring and inside in a large flight cage for the coldest weeks and the warmest months, she is very comfortable outside and loves singing to the wild birds, my aviary is securely locked so she doesn't get stolen and I also made it predator proof.

That's amazing. I have a house in Melbourne and hope to do that someday. I hope you made out okay with the hurricane.

Thank you for being concerned about Milton, the hurricane barely caused any damage up here so we were safe, but I do hope other floridians got out okay.

Nico my eclectus parrot is a one person bird. He bonds very strong to whoever he chooses to be his chosen one, and he is excellent to that person. He can be very aggressive towards others. Nico will attack my husband, or anyone who he feels is a threat. Some eclectus parrots do well with multiple people. It really depends on the parrot. It’s not really a predictable behavior if a parrot is going to be a one person bird or not. When you get into the larger parrots their beaks are larger, and stronger. They can do a lot more damage.

Nico my Ekkie could care less that my other parrots exist (conures). He doesn’t go anywhere near them. Due to the size difference I never have them out together. If Nico wanted to do harm to the conures they wouldn’t stand a chance. There’s always that possibility that I’m not willing to take.
