Mark and Wendy,
I am leaning to that one as well. It's a bit more unique and I think it's a little more dignified than some of the others.

Also,
pictures from the breeder today.

5 and a half weeks old. Looking slightly less like a velociraptor.

Less like a velociraptor, more like an oviraptor, haha!
Cute little guy. I like the name Kalani, too.

Not really related to Kalani, but went to the zoo today; a spoonbill flew over to say hey.

More related, they had a green wing that was being target trained in the free flight room. The anticipation of getting my companion continues to grow.

Don, I like the name Kalani :). The new baby pic is SO cute!! Great shirt too... and I LOVE Spoonbills :11:! Perfect pic there look at it haha!

I also noticed the toilet seat right away lol.

GREAT photo, Don! You look so happy. But I know that smile will be SO much bigger once Kalani is home. :D

Down here in Texas I don't have to go to the zoo to see spoonbills! I see them flying around or in irrigation ditches every once in a while. I also got to see a rookery at High Island.

And I wanna shirt like that!

Thank you! It is so fun watching him grow. I anticipate he may have a little color in the next round of pictures.

I can't even imagine the feeling I will have picking the baby up from the airport. I hope I didn't bore my friends too much staring at the green wing at the zoo for fifteen minutes.

My sister moved to Texas about a year ago. I need to go out and visit sometime.

I got the shirt from society6.com If you go to the "all over" shirts and type in whatever species of parrot you like, they have some pretty cool stuff.

There are a lot of cool shirts on there! I will certainly be getting a few in the future!:D

ROFLMAO @ 'have a feeling they won't last long'.

Hey, he may be gentle with them initially, until he gets the hang of destroying things. .... and they ALL get the hang of that sooner or later. :54:

Have a look at our DIY section. I bet you can whip up some AWESOME toys for him. You've got time. :D (But hey, if you wanna buy them, don't let us stop you)

There will definitely be some toy making in the future. I just want to cover all my bases first.

Someone in a facebook group posted his macaw foraging in one of these:
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Caitec-Paradise-Stainless-Steel-Baffle/dp/B003PL546Q"]Amazon.com : Caitec Paradise Stainless Steel Baffle Pet Cage, Large : Pet Supplies[/ame]

They had corn on the cob, a large carrot, ect. in there. This is definitely something I'm interested in getting for both food and toy parts. I'm checking out tons of different toy parts on mysafebirdstore.com

Exactly 7 weeks old today. I asked the breeder to try to help me get a feel for Kalani's size in the photos.

I am so in love already!

We have color!! :07:

GAAAAH! I can't stand the cuteness. I'm going Ga-Ga over here. :D

Don, I have that SS cage thingy for both my big macs. It's GREAT!! You can put pieces of wood in there, or even walnuts. :D

Yeah, with a large macaw in the house, your toymaking skills are going to go through the roof in no time...

I make lots of wiffle ball toys, for mine. I get those in the dollar stores. They last about an hour or less. And actually if you cut one of the spots where the holes connect up, you can bend it a little, and stuff broken toy parts, and treats inside the wiffle ball, and THAT becomes a forraging toy in and of itself.

The hot tip with large macaws is to recycle the large broken pieces and use them (if they're clean) in your foraging toys. Lots cheaper.

Sissal rope works great for hanging toys, and it's cheap. You can buy a bag of (untreated) scrap wood, drill holes in it, and string those up. Two by fours work just fine. (My bird didn't care if it was colored or not.) Those hardwood coins are favorites around here, and they last a little longer.

Anything pine will become a toothpick in a matter of minutes.

BOTH MY MACS ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEIR ROPE BOINGS!!! I DON'T CONSIDER THOSE THINGS OPTIONAL. EVERYONE HAS ONE.

I have a pretty killer hardwood swing that has lasted fairly well despite lots of use...
