I've had a couple of people ask me about the two ducklings I "adopted" a couple of weeks ago ("abducted" would be a better description of what really happened [emoji13] ). Well I'm happy to say that they are now almost a month old and growing like a weed! They are little poop machines, I don't know where it all comes from, seriously I just don't know! They make adjustible diaper holders that are custom fit for them, you measure them from the top of their back to the base of their tail, and they are made so that the first one will fit up until about 6 months old, then you measure them again at that point and reorder, and that will be their adult diaper holder. They are really very nice, they have a harness clip, they go around their necks and under their wings just like an aviator harness, but they have a pouch that goes around their butt! It has a little flap that you unsnap, pull out the old diaper, put a new one in, and snap it up! I cannot wait! Hallelujah this coming week they will be old enough and long enough to finally measure them and order their adjustible diaper holders!!! Seriously, I'm having a party! In the meantime they wear temporary diaper holders! They are kids size 8-10 socks, you cut out the heel, put maxi pads inside the toes, and it goes over their heads and around their butts! No ties or anything, the elastic holds everything on and all I do is pull the toe section off of their butts, dump them or pull out the maxi pad if it needs changed, put a new one in, and good to go! Very much like a flight suit for parrots, but I buy a pack of 6 pairs of socks for $1 and 60 maxi pads for $1 at Dollar Tree! One little snip and I've got 12 of them for $2 a piece! Seriously though, I can't wait for their real ones, so much easier! No more putting their socks on and changing them 10 times a day! No more bedding everywhere, no more scooping out their boxes 50 times a day, they can just walk around the house as they please! And we're also waiting patiently for spring to come so that we can start going outside in the big fenced-in back yard (I got them their very own swimming pool, my bathtub will be thankful as well!).
Their names are Axl and Slash...
The photo of the Shar Pei is my little boy Jett, and the mess behind him after he ripped open a huge new bag of pine bedding and drug it all over my dining room, kitchen, and living room. I walked upstairs to pee. Gone.for.2.minutes. [emoji35]
They're challenging little buggers, but I love them. And they are like having two more dogs, they absolutely love to snuggle and get scratched! Their favorite time of day is early evening when they get to curl up on the couch with me and watch TV before bed. They are starting to get their real feathers, and they now have the big, soft, squishy fat pads over their breasts that they lay their heads on to sleep. They are just so adorable, I think I squeeze them too often...Lol.
