I made this Inflammation-Soothing Smoothie this morning.
I was able to share it with Levi b/c I didn’t add anything he couldn’t have. I did add some pineapple because I eat it everyday & I used coconut water instead of water. I also used a larger piece of ginger because I eat fresh ginger everyday as well.
Levi was my assistant and enjoyed the finished product with me.
I must say he is very handy in the kitchen. :D

He is so handsome! I want that smoothie!

Thank you Laurasea I think so too .
It's was very easy and it was good. I added the recipe just in case someone might be interested. ;)

Go ahead, Levi, jump right in it. I think you'd look great in green.

KIDDING!

Hehehe ... he might Miss Gail, you never know? Those Amazons & GCCs and others wear it well. :D

I was excited that he tried it and liked it. :smile049:

As wonderful as Levi is, (and you know I am his biggest cheerleader) he is still not a fan of bathing, much to my chagrin. :(
I've tried every approach, we've watch video after video of parrots enjoying the bathing process, to no avail. I thought it was something he'd out grow, but no.

So, in full disclosure here is Levi hating every minute of it.
He does it, because he knows he has to, but he wishes he didn't.

Kevin is the same...but he gets showered too.

Thank you for sharing Leak. :) It's good to know, because I see so many parrots loving it and I wish he did. Forget about the water bottle misting, he freaked out with that. Like I said, I've tried everything.

Oh... they sort of react the same here (no flapping wings and going crazy) they just sit on my shoulder and soak till they had enough.

I have to asume they like it because they will demand to get IN the bathroom and will peck at my fingers when I try to get them to 'step-up' before they are done soaking.
But under the shower they will react like any other bird in heavy rain: "sit still and just take it".
They *will* squabble about who gets to go first... its all somewhat confusing. ;)

Sometimes (I always give them the choice) they will go for a second round of getting soaked... I stretch my arm and they walk right back to where the spray is... and then hunker down and just ...sit....

I only get those characteristic bathing-bird-flaps & enthousiasm from Japie when he is in his doggy-bowl or the shallower offical birdbath --- soaking the cage and part of the living room ....
(so it may be *his* favorite way, but it is certainly not mine! :D Japie will take a birdbath in the cage, not --same bowl--- in the bathroom. Appie will get her feet wet and try to dunk herself in the macawdrinkingbowl, but not in the bathroom... )

birds.......

That look on Levi's face says it all!
My Justice also hates bathing, and stands as stiff as a board, just waiting for it to be over with. Merlin, our other CAG, is a little better about it but still doesn't seem to enjoy it:(

First, LOVED that video! (Yeah, going back a page or two.) Speaking in context? Sweet! And he's such a gentleman with that tone! The "please" is practically implied. Lol!

Jolly's favorite in context phrase is "step up". He used to say "Out" when he was ready for me to take him out of the cage after he'd finished eating, but of late he's switched to saying "Step up" and looking at me expectantly. Love it!

As for suffering the bath rather than enjoying it, Maya has that same body language when I shower her most of the time. Every once in a while she'll get into it, but for the most part she just resigns herself to it. Jolly, on the other hand, dances, flaps and pretty much vibrates with delight like it's his first shower... every single time! Lol!

The wild-eyed look Levi has going on, though! Hahaha! He's like, "Is this really happening right now?"

Yea, it's a conundrum for sure. It all goes back to they are individuals with their own preferences. Thanks for sharing your stories., appreciate it. :D

I know, it's terrible. I feel so bad when it's 'That Time.'
I’m so glad I mentioned it. I’ve been so bummed about his adverse feelings towards bathing. Thank you!

Awwww … I know you do. 👍🏻 Nice! It's the Best!

Exactly, “make it stop, make it stop ... NOW!” haha 😄

Thanks so much everyone for sharing. I have really been bummed about the whole bathing thing. Now, you've all enlightgened me.

The Rb will occasionally (every month or so) bathe in a huge wok that I offer weekly, but usually, I just mist him gently a couple of times a week as he wails "Oh, Gail, OHHHHH..."
I'll make a project of getting this on video. It's quite gut-wrenching. Not.

I've spent more money on shallow bathing bowls than I care to remember.
Believe it or not I have even tried a Wok early on.

I'd love to see your video :D

My dearly departed Smokey hated showers too :( no matter which way I tried! Misting..in the shower with me...under a dripping faucet...she'd tighten up,hunker down, shake her head and GLARE at me! BUT...as soon as she went back in her house...she'd dip her face in the water bowl!

Yep!

Ya know, when I first got him he tired to bathe in his water bowl. But, I've never seen him do that again. I even placed shallow bowls in his cage.
I finally gave up and just did it myself. It figures Grey's really need frequent bathing and it appears many of them dislike it.
