So, a little update on how they're doing since Pepper passed.

At first, they were all very depressed, didn't move for most of the day, didn't sing, didn't play, didn't run around and be the chaotic little cr*ckheads they were. Lately (as in the past week), I have seen Cossie sing twice (a fairly rare and ADORABLE occurrence), all of them play with toys, and there has been A LOT of running around and being chaotic! Also, a lot of clinginess and affection, even from Apollo!

I think they're doing a lot better!

I cut down some beech tree branches today because I needed to dump some firewood and the branches were blocking the area. So I decided to wash them and give them to the birbies. Here are the results!

They aren’t actially destroyibg the leaves, but I can tell that being in a “tree” makes them so happy.

There was also a sense of "calm" when bringing the branches in. No panic or anything.

And OFC I have to do a “blast from the past” for Apollie too! Then:

And now, so much more confident 💙🤍 (plus she looks like a little hawk, which is ADORABLE)

2 updates:

Number 1, I got new vet wrap! 30 bucks worth, I got every color they had, but it's totally worth it! I re-wrapped their PVC playstand and tabletop t-stand, and that didn't even use up that much. I got pink, red, blue, green, yellow, and purple, and re-wrapped the perches with totally different colors than what they were before.

Number 2, My guys are SERIOUSLY good at recall. Like, free flight candidate good. Outdoor (in the aviary), indoor, new places, old places, they're GREAT at it! Especially Stormy, because he was the only one of my 3 who actually fledged as a fledgling. God, I wish I could free fly them... I know I can't due to living in the middle of the woods + birds of prey (though not that many). But I totally would if I could, they are SO GOOD at recall!

Make sure they don’t chew the solder even if it’s lead-free.

I’m glad Apollo is doing well!
It is lead solder, however budgies aren't huge chewers, so they haven't even come close to chewing it. They ignore it for the most part.

A book recommendation for you (you might already have this): “Games and House Design for Parakeets” by Hildegard’s Niemann, Barron, US, 2013. It has toy-

and perch-making instructions and a lot more!
