"The Finch Scrapbook, 2025- updates".

How did I miss this thread for so long! Becky & Becky sure hit the lotto when you brought them home, dear sister! I can't wait to hear how Rb reacts to them in the same room, please please take video!
I adore finches, I'm down to one really old Gouldian now and I miss my Zebras. You may have inspired me to get more ❤️
Mine always loved swings and bells. They also really liked branches from our Lilac in their cage. And they adore taking baths!

Here's a pic of our flights back when they were full. The top was for fancy finches and the bottom was Zebras.

I've always heard that seeds should still be a part of their diet even if they also eat pellets...that's like the best of both worlds:) When my females were laying eggs I also added crushed oyster shells to their food for the calcium. A cuttlebone would also work but mine really weren't interested in it:(

I am oft portrayed as a curmudgeon and a bird antagonist, in particular a mortal enemy of the Rickeybird. Not altogether untrue.

However, I actually LIKE the finches. They are tiny, cute, harmless, pretty.
There ya go. I stand redeemed.

Wow, I did not have this on my 2025 Bingo card, yay! I'm so glad that we don't have to change your name to Rival_of_the_Rickeybird_and_the_Beckys :ROFLMAO:

Terrio, I can't wait for the Rrrrrrrival to check in here.
I am taking your tips with utmost gratitude and devotion.

Yeah, well... the ole rooster (Rb, not the Rival, hehehehe) is pretty disenchanted with his Beckys, I fear. Every now and then he gives them a good long stare, but seems to prefer his daily green chile (or the nape of my neck, under my hair) as his girlfriends of choice. *AHEM*

I just got them a new cage, some 3-4 times the size of the tiny 12x12 cell they had at the bird store...

Is there any better feeling than rescuing a bird and enriching its precious life????
