The Eclectus Diet: The Do's, the Don'ts, and Everything You Need to Know But Were Too Afraid to Ask

I was feeding pellets in addition to chop but i noticed my girl started wing flipping. I have cut out all pellets and now no more wing flipping. She gets chop twice a day and nuts and seed for training treats (or foraging treats if we are not training that day).

If it helps, I make chop. He gets a tablespoon of this with a teaspoon of millet mixed in in the morning. You could try this but with equal quantities of chop and golden feast and reduce the feast gradually over time. You need your chop ‘wet’ for the seed to stick to the pieces: Freezing makes it wet.
I found my boy still taps to even the Organic Tops.
He loves pomegranate and passion fruit as there are seeds inside, you can do the same mixing trick. It doesn’t have to be 50/50 any ratio to start with & alter it over a few months. Hope Chris can help you more.
I will try that hes been on goldenfeast and tops since I rescued him and is doing so much better when I switched him off the pretty bird from the previous owner. When I first got him his color was terrible and dull, finally its beginning to brighten and gain his color back. But I would like to give him more variety since all he will eat is the tops and goldenfeast Madagascar. Luckily, he does not tap or wing flip at all.

@leogenics if you are looking for dry mixed, here is the sticky in the eclectus forum on the topic. Dry mixes for eclectus

But I’m very much with Talaya. Mornings my bird gets a mix of bird street bistro blends and sprouts, and evenings is chop and sprouts. If I’m behind on making sprouts, I keep a stash of origin wild diet eclectus pellets I swap in for.

I still use Goldenfeast Indonesian blend. This is for when I might be out of the bird street bistro, I can swap that in as the base for breakfast or to break up the monotony for him. I also, to keep feeding simple, use it for his diet while he’s boarding at our local parrot store. So I spare those employees from having to handle chop and sprouts.

@chris-md Thanks I'm not sure how I glanced over the eclectus specific forum ill check it out. I'm trying to get him on chop, but he looks at me like I'm crazy. Guess just take to continue trying to be persistent and hope one day he will go for it.
