Right now Salty is.....

Here you go, Mr. Goodwrench.
He'll fly out tomorrow.
The background is white... my camera makes weird gray squiggles sometimes.
The eye is much more real-looking in person, with a nice sharp glint... you'll see!

Geez Gail...you are truly talented! I'm gonna have to PM you about doing something like that with Amy..Truly a work of art there Ms Gail..

Right? Exactly his head tilt, the soft upturned part of his beak, and the sparkle in his little eyes! Can't wait to have the original Gail.

Amazing artwork, Abigail! You really captured Salty! Floored once again!

Thank you all! Charlotte's up next, although it'll be a little while before I get to her...

After the bird goes to bed, she sits on the couch watching TV and listening to Youtube with headset, and does these portraits. I occasionally go by and have a look. Outline, then some feathers and colors, all of a sudden there's a bird. Takes her a couple of evenings usually. Sometimes there is a glass of wine or two involved, if muse is needed.
;)

...His harness training has progressed a little too. Now I can get the harness on him pretty tight, and he will walk around the table. Still cant get his wings thru though - any tips from successful users of harnesses?

Hey, Al! As it is Ronel's (Miloslave) birthday today (Happy Birthday, Ronel!), I came across a video she'd put up a while back of an alternative approach to putting on the Aviator Harness. What struck me was that it had never occurred to me to fasten the clamp from the top rather than the bottom. For some birds, it would eliminate the issue of them attempting to step up while you're in the midst of tightening the harness. Perhaps this will help with Salty?

Nothing new, just want to keep all the Salty vids in one spot so others can review later.

Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, Mr. GoodWrench... THANK YOU for the tubular bell! The Rb adores it. So much so that it's one of the things I must remove from his cage at night, lest he CELEBRATE with it all night long!
Videos to come!
You're the best, dude, you AND your flock!

Patagonian shout-outs to two of my favorite new extended family-flock members!!!!!

Cap'n Wrench! I found a copy of the Companion Parrot Handbook. She mentioned two things that remind me of Salty and his tricks. One was a parrot that learned to hold up the requested color of plastic bucket to receive a treat in the bucket. (I wonder if a parrot could learn to request a particular treat if yellow was always pecan and green was pine nut etc.?) The other was that some parrots could learn to place children's plastic puzzle pieces in the correct shape hole. I thought, I bet Salty could do that, and it would make a good video!

Salty go two tricks for him to learn. one is a mini grand piance, the other is a bank that has a cute little choochoo that deposits the coin. i hope he learns to use both, it will be really cute.

Hey Wrench Timneh says thank you for her pine nut today. But holy cow 30 bucks a pound for raw organic pine nuts. An expensive tip to pick up from you. LOL

Right now Salty is plying and very short piece of chain, going from his cage to his hanging boing. He has 2 toys hanging from it. a tubular bell and one rubber thingy. He has like 2 pilliows under it nd hs mnaged to fall once. Right onto them. So he is singing and laughing his fool head off just like before, so he is well on the way to recovery. we will slowly restore a lot of his chin, but with mats and stuff under it. Training tonight will tell a lot since he has to manipulate stuff with his beak. Slowly and a little bit at a time.
