Parrots
my darling lovebird
pleeeeeeeeease guys i really need your help.
bamboo has been sleeping since morning today and has stopped talking and playing around.
around 2-3 weeka ago, i noticed his droppings were extremely watery. i was totally freaked out, but then it dint seem to affect him, so i let it go. he kinda got better, but there are still water marks around his droppings,. i am so scared. please tell me what i can do :(

i called the pet store i got him from, and he said i should put some medicine in his water. its not working, really and there is no vet around........
im SO hopeful, so please give me some advice.

thanks a lot!!!

I'm sorry but there's nothing we can do for you there cause we don't know what's making him sick as we're not there to observe the bird for one and we're not vets here. Only a vet can tell you in person what is wrong with your beloved Bamboo after doing some testing. Please do try to find a vet ASAP as it is critical to find one now!

i am so worried about him. yesterday when he was sleeping more than usual, i was like- aaaaaw look at him!!! :D :D

oh god i wish id been more careful :(
im still trying to find a vet. birds are not very common pets here, so there is no vet around. someone said i should give him some homeopathy medicines. will it work?

It depends what he's got! You have to get to the root of the problem before trying to treat. Cause right now you have no idea what he's sick from.

Agreed. You cannot just willy nilly administer meds if you don't know what to treat. That would do more harm than good. Rather keep trying to find a vet that can help asap.

Good luck!

he wont eat anything other than his birdseed and spinach.

i cant find anyone at all!!!!! there is no vet here. is there any way i can find out what the problem is?

Maybe an online avian vet? Or ring your normal vet and ask if they can refer you to anyone. Are you sure he is not just having a nap? You haven't fed him anything toxic like chocolate or avacado?

Is there a zoo nearby, they may be able to tell you where to go find a vet. They often have avian vets.

I am so sorry that Bamboo is sick. Maria's thought about calling a zoo is a good idea.
I hope he gets better soon.

i called the pet store again. the guy told me to mix something called paramycin in his water. bamboo has now started smelling weird.
im so scared for him. it hurts so much seeing him. i haven't heard a peep from him since 2 days.is there anything i can do at home, till i find a proper vet?

"Paramycin" sounds like an antibiotic, which might be effective if you knew Bamboo had a bacterial infection. It would be better than nothing, I guess, although dosage would be very important, and of course, there's the problem of administering it, especially if the bird's not eating or drinking. What city are you in in India, Cassie?

Again, it is not wise to treat your bird with any type of anti-biotic without knowing what's going on! Above posting have mentioned about asking the local zoo to see if there's a vet you can see about Bamboo's sickness.

thanks so much :)
well i live in bangalore, karnataka. its somewhere in the south. well i tried finding someone online too, but there is no one at all. many of the dog vets say they have bird care, but ive heard horrible things from people who keep birds. apparently they dont know anything about birds and give them something for dogs, or something not safe.

i cant find a zoo who will pick up a call.

well even if they do, i think their vets would be those extra professional ones, really costly for exotic birds, and stuff. but then our zoos call cockatoos and macaws "exotic" so maybe i can try :(
do any of you have an idea of how serious this is? is it like CRITICAL or warning for alert? if its very urgent, i'll just take him to anyone i find.

i dont have any idea why this is happening. he was okay till 3 days ago. im so sure he ate nothing bad, he had clean water, we dint use any sprays, its not too cold......
well, if it might help, he's also molting. could he just be tired? people tell me i worry too much.
he also seems to cheer up temporarily when i put him the sun. he will tweet sometimes, and ring his bell, but after 5 mins, he tries to find shade, and goes back to sleep

Look it does sound like you worry a lot. But that's a good thing because you love your baby bird :blue1: Don't stress he will be ok. I"ll have a look online and see what I can find
