Are persimmons safe for birds to eat? I’m finding a lot of conflicting information online. I know they’re toxic when unripe, but is it ok to offer ripe ones? Should I avoid them altogether? Thanks

I can only offer my childhood observations of watching all kinds of birds chow down on persimmons in my grandparents' backyard in Texas.
I assume that unripe or spoiled/fermented ones are bad.
I know that my wife's parrot has eaten them a few times in his 40 years and has survived, much to my sadness.
Jokinnnnng!

For once, my ol' man seems to know what he's talking about. I know of no cautionary notes on persimmons...
