I have had birds for 20 years...Birds of several breeds and plan to keep them for life. I have an eleven year old female Green Cheek who decided to lay an eggs a day on the bottom of her cage. (She lives with an unrelated younger male.)
She became very aggressive to the point that I had to wear a glove to move her to the aviary every day. I finally just got a nesting box and put some shredded material in in and peeked the other day and saw there are now 5 eggs. She stays inside most of the time and I do not move them outside during the day any more. I have read such conflicting things about how to make sure she knows what she is doing. I have found no advice on any kind of supplement or special food to give. A pet store said Nestling formula???? Is there a resource that tells it all? I would be very grateful.
