Hello everyone! Thanks for having a great site. Nice to see other bird lovers on the internet. :) My name is Melissa. I have had a zebra finch when I was a child. As a teenager, my family had Amazons, a Double Yellow head (TJ) and a Mexican Red Head (Ricco--who just passed away in June). I have also fostered a Sun Conure before rehoming it. And I am getting a Senegal (Max) this weekend.

:yellow1:Hello, there. It is nice to meet you.
I am P chan living in Japan. I am not a native English speaker. So I am afraid that my English sounds very funny. Besides, I don’t understand how to use this forum very much due to my poor language ability. However, would you mind if I joined you?
I would like to make many friends who love birds all over the world.
I am currently living with two lovebirds, one cockatiel and one budgerigar. Also, I have many bird friends at a bird shelter near my house. I sometimes do volunteer work there. I enjoy playing with many pretty birds like macaws, cockatoos, parrots, conures, quakers, and caique etc. I really love them.
Could you tell me about your beloved bird(s)? I would be happy if you would give me a message.

P.S. When my English sounds funny, please tell me and teach me. I really appreciate your help.

I think your english is better than my japanese:D. Love to see pictures of your birds.

Thank you for your message.
When I take a good picture of my birds, I will show you:)

Hello all,
My name is James, I am new here. I am owned by a 4-5 yr old Senegal Parrot that was a rescue. I am currently looking into getting a Macaw now :).

Welcome Melissa, I'm sorry about Ricco. Was he an older bird?

Hi, Merlinsmom :) Ricco was 18 years old. I was blessed to have him from the time he was weaned till the day he passed. He was okay before I went to work, but when I returned, he had become lethargic. He loved to cuddle and be near me, but on that particular day, if I came near his cage, he whined, whimper and walk away from me. I also realized that he hadn't touched his food. I rushed him to the aviary vet and he was hospitalized for 4 days. Blood work was done and that is when we realized his red blood cell count was very low and the cells were not replenishing themselves. He had a seizure the morning he passed, and died later that evening.

Hello my name is Kerry, I just registered so I could respond to a post that I found when doing research regarding Red Fronted Macaws, a kind of parrot that I am currently considering purchasing. I now have a Yellow Naped Amazon that was dropped off in the Humane Society night drop box in a very small town in MN. I used to have 5 parrots when I was married over 10 years ago. My ex-husband and I were in the process of a dissolution but we decided that we still loved each other & that we'd try again to make our relationship work. My ex didn't like my 5 parrots so I sold them to make a sincere attempt to try to get our relationship to work. We ended up getting a divorce anyway many years later. I had put an ad on Craigslist recently looking for my old Yellow Naped Amazon parrot Perry. The woman who took the medium parrots from the Humane Society in her town when they were turned in there e-mailed me & asked if I would take another Yellow Nape. Her partner had told her that she had too many parrots & that she needed to find another home for 1. I went there & brought home my female Yellow Naped Amazon parrot.
I am doing research on people's responses to owning a Red Fronted Macaw, so if anyone has info. regarding Red Fronted Macaws as a pet, please let me know. I am wondering how loud they are & how they are as a companion pet, how affectionate, how comical, if they like to be handled. When I was married in the past I used to have the Yellow Nape, a Citron Crested Cockatoo, a Blue & Gold Macaw, an African Gray & a Rosebreasted Cockatoo. I finished hand feeding all my parrots except the Yellow Nape, I had purchased him from a pet store before I knew better. He had a Pseudomonas infection when I purchased him & I had to give him shots & rinse his nostrils out with a medicine solution to get red of it. He was a great pet, my favorite of my parrots.
If anyone knows of someone with a Red Fronted Macaw that they no longer want to keep as a pet, please let me know that also. I would be willing to re-home one if I found the "right one".
Thanks a lot for the information regarding Red Fronted Macaws in advance.

Hi all. Im new to the forum.
Currently we have 3 Sennies - Oliver, Peeka and Boo
(I hand raised all three of them)
and one Umbrella Cockatoo - Lola.
Will be getting an African Grey sometime in the near future as that is what my hubby has always wanted.
Have owned and bred a lot of different birds in the past (cockatiels, conures, finches, love birds, parakeets) but have to say that the large parrots are by far my favorite.
This is a great source of information. I cant wait to start reading.

Hi Everyone,

I've just joined and would like to learn and share. I have a very small an cheeky moluccan, Mattie Moonbeam; a red tailed grey, Chiahna Star and I lost my true love, a belize amazon, Reemie Sunshine. The sun the moon and the stars. I am also the owner of StarBird.

Hi all! I have two Alexandrine Parrots that i just adore. A 3yo boy named Zeus and a naughty 4yo girl named Gretchen. Zeus is a sweet and loving boy but Gretchen can be an evil little witch! I was given her when she was a baby due to her "angry" personality. She was fighting and upsetting all the other babies and the breeder was very concerned that she wouldn't find a good home due to her aggressive nature (and this was at 12 wks old!) It didnt take long to get the bite out of her and a year later I bought Zeus to keep her company. He says to her "don't be angry, Gretchen", "watcha doing Gretchy girl" and awwww....Gretchen your a pretty girl!" it's the cutest thing i've ever seen! I live in southeast Queensland, Australia. Looking forward to chatting to you all! I will post pictures when i get a chance!

Yay more Alex's! Welcome!

We just bought a gold cap conure two days ago. It seems like a great bird, a little shy at first but is definitely warming up. It's not even a year old at this point, about 7 months. If anyone has any tips or ideas to help me and my family any help would be appreciated. We had parakeets a few years ago but the conure is our first bigger bird.
Matt
