- White-Front Amazon,
Hahn's Mini-Macaw,
4 Budgies,
2 Cockatiels
Hi, my name is Susan and I live in SW Virginia. I have a Hahn's Mini-Macaw, Zazu; a White-Front Amazon, Jewel; 4 Budgies - Sunny, Sugar, Blueberry & Snowflake, and 2 Cockatiels - Pepper & Pearl. Zazu and Jewel are both 11 years old and have been with me since they were weaned. They have to have their cages right next to each other or they get upset. My budgies are between 2 and 5 years old. I adopted the Tiels with the intention of just fostering them and must rehome them.
I have severe asthma and am allergic to Cockatoo and Cockatiel dust. I agreed to take in the Tiels only after I saw them in a filthy, rusty small rabbit cage. Their food and water dishes were on the floor of the cage and nasty. Their only perch was a small branch from a bush, I kid you not, held in place with duct tape! The female's tail feathers were almost completely gone. Apparently, they were owned by an old woman who had a stroke and had to go into a nursing home. The Tiels were only about 1 year old when I got them and so are somewhere between 2-1/2 and 3 years old now.
Like I said, this was only supposed to be a temporary home. I wheeze whenever I'm around them so they have to stay in their cage. I had a larger unused cage that I had kept in case of an emergency, so they have a lot more room than that rabbit cage. I named them because I was told they didn't have names. The female is a Pearl Pied and Pearl is her name. The male is a White-Face and named Pepper. He talks; he learned on his own to say, "Pretty, pretty Pepper," and "Give me a kiss, Pepper." They are both beautiful, healthy birds and very sweet.
I really don't want much money for them; just for the food I have and some of their toys. I hope someone can help me find a home for these sweet birds!
