New Members

Hi guys! My name is Stefano and I'm a new bird owner, though I've been researching companion birds for years and have experience with lots of other animals. I live with my parents and sister at home--at their insistence and mine--and we all have a small zoo together (An aviary of 18 doves, 3 dogs, a flying squirrel, two bunnies, a hamster, two bearded dragons, and a snake) and now I have three birds in my room.

I have two green-cheek conures (Skittles and Gandhi) and a white-fronted Amazon named Zoe. I love them all like my own children.

I recently adopted Zoe from a family that didn't pay any attention to him (they thought Zoe was a girl, hence the name) and he was almost completely featherless when I got him. They have started to grow back and he hasn't plucked a single feather since day one!

Okay, I'm talking too much. I just wanted to say hi!

Dear All,

First of all well done for this site. I am a new member and unfortunately this spring I have just experienced a parrot breeding nightmare.

I have a pair of ringnecks and a pair of jenday conures. Both of them laid eggs (ringnecks 4 and jenday 3) and started their incubation period.

Both of them eceeded there incubation time (i.e approximately 23 days), and I was shocked with what I saw.

I broke the eggs and I found all 7 chicks (all formed with beak, wings, legs) dead in their eggs.

Can someone tell me what went wrong as I feel that this is an experience which I do not want anyone to experience :20:.

Thank you for your time.

Adrian

Hello and thank you for the warm welcome. I have never joined a forum before so just be patient, ok. LOL
I have an African Grey that was left to me in a friends will. Tony is a wild catch and the lady before me could not do anything with him, but he does talk. I have made great progress with him. I work with him in the mornings, so far I can get him to step up on my hand and I think he thinks I am his mate. Tonny will even regurgatate food on my hand or my lips (yuck). I love him just the same. Next I will try to get him to come out of his cage.
I am also in the progress of getting 2 Gofin Cockatoos, cannot wait to meet them. Sorry so long winded.

Welcome. Lucky you to be given one of these fab. birds. We love photos if you can upload them.

Hello! My name is Emily, and Tango is my Green Cheek Conure. I just got him yesterday morning and he's so cuddly. I wasn't expecting him to be so social with me for at least a few days, but he's already falling asleep at the nape of my neck, tucked in my hair. ^^ Makes me feel really special, to be honest.

Anyway, it's nice to meet everyone! :)

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and wanted to introduce myself. I have a few parrots (but want more of course!), and I also keep dogs and various reptiles and amphibians.

Hope to get to know you better!

Ade.

Hello everyone.

My name is Sindi and I am the guardian of an adorable little 8 month old CAG named Enzo. Since I am still a relatively new 'Mom' I still have some questions and concerns regarding the proper care of Enzo, despite all the books I have read. They were a great help, but I still need some advice and guidance.

I just wanted to introduce myself first, before I come with all my questions!! LOL!

Regards,

Sindi

Hi, My Goffin and I are new here. I hope to learn everything I can to take care of her the way she deserves. I adopted her in January from a prev. owner. I was shocked to find out she has feather-chewing issues and didn't loose her feathers over-nite like her prev. owner claimed, (from molting). When I took her to the vet, I spent quite a bit of $ on a blood test and visit to find out there wasn't much I could do, she is medically in good health as far as I know. I am excited to be a new member and gain valueable advise from all of you..

Hi everyone! My name is Abby and I'm from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I have a Yellow Collared Macaw named Gus, who I have had since 2003. I adopted him from a woman who was getting married and whose fiance did not like birds. We formed a close bond and I worked with him on behavioral issues left over from his previous owner. He's fiesty, but has a big personality! I also have a rescue Sun Conure named Maui that I have only had 3 weeks. He was fully flighted his whole life (he is a young adult) and so he is adjusting to living with clipped wings. He loves my husband, and snuggling in my long hair. I love birds, and have my childhood pet, Petey (a budgie) to thank for that.

Things I do for fun are pretty much spend time with my family and my flock! :) Oh, and riding my bike!

Hullo everyone! I am not new to forums, nor to bird ownership, but I am new to bird forums! I have a 3 year old Lilac Crowned Amazon named Sparklebird (I know...it was just sposed to be Sparkle, but that didn't stick as well and now all she calls herself is "Sparklebird"). I know I am doing some bird things right (pellets and fresh foods, big cage, out of cage time, showers, toys, human interaction, trips to school, etc) but I know there are lots more things I could be doing or doing better.

I am hoping to pick up on tips and tricks, as well as ideas for keeping my sweet birdy happy and engaged in life!

Hi everyone~
My name is Kim and I live in NJ. I just purchased 2 macaws (1- Hahn's & 1- Severe). They are both newborns, so they are still with the breeder being hand-fed. I will be able to take the Hahn's home in July (2011) and the Severe home in August.
I visit them every-other day so we are able to bond with ease. Denise, from Fancy Feathers Aviary in Caldwell NJ is awesome. Whenever I have a question, she doesn't make me feel stupid for asking e.g. do you cover the cage every night?
I can't wait until everyone is home.
Kim~ :green:

Hi guys, I'm new here and this is my first forum! So hang in there with me while I learn how to use it and everything... XD I'm excited to get to meet all of you.
I'm 14 and I have a 9 month old green cheek conure named Chika and she's my first bird, so I am no bird expert, though I do know a lot about parrots. I can't wait until I can get another bird! I want an Indian Ringneck Parakeet next. Chika is a moody little thing--she'll put her foot up in the air to be picked up and then two minutes later she'll bite for no reason! But I love her nonetheless. She's smart and has just learned to talk. She can say "step up" and "hello," but neither are incredibly clear.

:yellow1:Hello, there. It is nice to meet you.
I am P chan living in Japan. I am not a native English speaker. So I am afraid that my English sounds very funny. Besides, I don’t understand how to use this forum very much due to my poor language ability. However, would you mind if I joined you?
I would like to make many friends who love birds all over the world.
I am currently living with two lovebirds, one cockatiel and one budgerigar. Also, I have many bird friends at a bird shelter near my house. I sometimes do volunteer work there. I enjoy playing with many pretty birds like macaws, cockatoos, parrots, conures, quakers, and caique etc. I really love them.
Could you tell me about your beloved bird(s)? I would be happy if you would give me a message.

P.S. When my English sounds funny, please tell me and teach me. I really appreciate your help.
