Hi everyone :)
After getting some suggestions to start a thread for my three boys....
I have decided to do it! :)
I'm calling it My "Three Muskateers" after my three birds... Harry and Toon
(African Greys, hatched 26 februari 2000 and 6 may 2001, and Bob Budgerigar,
hatched in 10 october 2013).

I plan to offer several categories of posts.
*Photos, videos, and stories of my guys
*Examples of the toys and crochet-art I make (along with instructions)
*Fun links or finds from the Internet, etc.

I hope you will enjoy The "Three Muskateers" as much as I enjoy sharing them!

Sincerely,
Marileen

I will start with telling something about myself :)
I'm the proud mom of the 3 Musketeers: Harry, (grey) Toon (grey) and Bob (blue budgie)
As you all know, my name is Marileen and live in the Netherlands
I'm 54 years old, born 14 april 1962 and I have a son Anthony who is
28, but this tuesday it's his birthday, so than he will be 29 years old :)
My youngest son Robert died in december 1999....he was very ill.
I have 2 incurable diseases and am for the most part depend of my electric wheelchair, which I call Thunderbird.:D
Before I became ill I was the owner of a nice pet store, called Dierengedoe, and was specialized in parrots amenities....did not sell animals.
Because of my disease I had to stop with my pet store.
What I am also want to say, is that I am very happy to be a Member here :)

About 6 years ago: In my Pet store Dierengedoe :)

Harry's paw :

harrypaw.jpg

Often I a get the question why Harry is disabled....
Well.....I tell you....
The breeder had Harry dropped out of his hands, when he was about 2 weeks old.
When Harry was old enough and I could take him at home.....the breeder did not tell me what was happened with Harry.
After a copple of weeks Harry kept sitting on the bottom of his cage....and did not wanted to climb.
I did not trusted this behaviour.....so I took him to the best parrotdoc in the Netherlands. He examed Harry and at the photo's he had made from his body.....he concluded that Harry had broken his pelvis and paw when he was a little chick. He contacted the breeder and told him wat he had discovered. The breeder called me to tell me that I could change Harry for another parrot :02: WHATTTTTTT???? Are you out of your mind????? I never bring Harry back to you......I love him so much. And I don't want my money back......as..ol....!!!! This is what I told him
Harry got medication for the pain. And I teached him how to climb and doing things with his paw. The medication is not neccesary anymore.....he has no pain....and he can handle his disability very well He is such a sweet boy and also very satisfied:) I' m so happy I never took him back to the breeder......I love him so much and I am very proud at him:)
So now you all knows the story of my sweet grey guy :)

Marileen, deepest condolences for the loss of your son, I'm so sorry.

You and Harry are truly an inspiration, I'm so glad he found you and found his perfect normal with you. He is a gorgeous boy and looks so happy and healthy. Thank you for this special gift.

Marileen... you know, WE are so much alike in many ways... our physical stuff, our general beliefs, our love of our birds, our artistry...
But our birds! MANNNNN!

Dear Harry has been through so much, little Bob, too, and they are so sweet... and Toon is so grateful for his good fortune.
But then there's the Rbird, who lives in the indulgent lap of luxury... and has the temperament of a Tasmanian Devil.

But we love 'em!

And I love your new thread.

I am so glad you created this thread, Marileen. My deepest condolences for the loss of your younger son.

Thanks for sharing your story. I knew from the beginning you are an amazing person! We are so fortunate to have you as a treasured member of the forums!! :40:

Bob the sweet little blue dwarf:)

IMG_20160905_173538.jpg

Maybe some of you have seen it already, but also Bob is different from other parakeets. He is only 9 centimeters
He is a dwarf......but a very cute one.
It looks like its wings are clipped but that is not the case.
His wings have never grown, they are much too short.
That is also the reason why he cannot fly......but he can run very fast!!!!!! :D
He also has a very short tail.
He comes from a very good, dear breeder, who participates in international exhibitions. Also his parakeets are always tested for diseases.
When he discovered that Bob was different from his brothers and sister, he asked me if I wanted to become the mommy of Bob.
He did not want Bob dead.
So I am the mamma of my sweet dwarf.

Here my handsome and funny Toon

001.jpg

Toon comes from a very good breeder, who is well known in the Netherlands.
The breeding couples have a tropical paradise, as in the wild, with heated places where they have their nest.
The parents of Toon and his brothers and sisters not wanted to feed their kids.
The breeder has taken them out of the nest to feed them by hand.
He asked me if I wanted to raise the baby's , because I often had done that for him.
When they were old enough, and could eat well by them selves, they went to their new homes. And I bought Toon :):)
So at his way I'm also became the mommy of sweet, funny Toon. :D

I have never seen any bird who looks so vulnerable yet brave and sweet yet proud as Bob!
I have a special place in my heart for the Bobs of the bird world. I bet all of us here do.
Bob is such a precious darling... he makes me feel a tear well up even as I'm smiling.
You go, Bobster!

Toon is a handsome devil and he knows it.
He's your little George Clooney.
