Its a very sad day
After consulting with many bird owner I decided to let go of one of them since my blue and gold regurgitating most of her food to the cockatoo,They scream when they are not together and I am concern of my neighbors.I want to re home my cockatoo but no wants him because of his history.
So I did re home Billy to a avian expert for almost nothing because she will be in a better home than I can provide for her at this time :(

That was quick... Less than 2.5 months... Poor bird.

Are you in close proximity to your neighbors? Things like that could of been prevented!!! Separating them in two rooms, they will eventually quit. My macaw regurgitate to my dogs and I don't see any problems what so ever. I'm kinda lost on the main reasoning why you re-homed the macaw again? They can be taught to do indoor voice, IF you can teach them tricks, indoor voice wouldn't be hard....Plus that's how macaws communicate is through their calls. I'm not trying to sound harsh, but you must read more next time before attempting to bring one home for two months then find them new homes again, it's not a easy thing for a parrot to go through! I see you have saltwater fish tanks, you learn to quarantine but I see your also asking for trouble adding certain fish to a coral reef tank. I'm a ex reefer here!!! I sold all my saltwater earlier this year to have more time for my birds....Reading and asking questions as much as you can is my advice to you!!!

Too many bird in too short time...

she was too happy here with my cockatoo that's why I have to let her go!
But with the new owner she will be so much better.
He is a very experience bird owner and she will be the only bird.

What's the difference with 2.5 months and 25 years rehoming her?
She is less attach and she still very young on 17 months old .
I also save her from a previous owner that don't want anything to do with.
She is my favorite but sometimes you have to let them go for them to thrive.

How is it a problem that she's too happy with the Cockatoo? I'm just curious....

I still have the cockatoo and the gold wing
Both are doing well. They don't get along so it's good that they are far from each other

The cockatoo and the blue and gold are very close friend and she thinks it's ok to
Regurgitated most of her food to the cockatoo that makes the billy not gain weight
and they scream none stop if they are separated.

For the health reason one of them needs to go:(

She was seen by the vet again and she is doing great on the new home.

I think she's in worse condition in the poorly constructed house where she's near by wood work where she will make tooth picks out of. But that's not the part I'm worried about, it's the paint on the wood work! Plus the chicken wire that will rust!!!! To me that's poor condition!

If you feel you have done right by the Blue and Gold then you should be happy with the decision. It was probably hard for you to have to re-home your macaw but if you felt that it was unhealthy for her to keep feeding the cockatoo and it was not working in your household then you made the decision that is right for the parrot.

People are very passionate about parrots and if they feel something is not right to them they will comment. I don't think it is to be harsh but to educate not only you but for others who may read and see the messages.

It is not easy to give up a parrot. You made a decision and found a better situation for the bird. The pics of the macaw in the "temp caging" does look kind of dodgy and I am sure that is what most people were thinking when they saw them. Your next post explaining the situation was very helpful to know that the macaw will not be in there long enough to chew on the house paint, mouldings and other things that will endanger her.

BTW I was wondering where you are located? If the new owner can build an outdoor aviary must be a warm place. No outdoor aviaries here where I live because I live in MN and we have cold climate. A lot of breeders here in MN have pretty much stopped and got out of birds. Not sure why but probably because of the economy, parrot popularity is down, did not want to bring more babies into the world, maybe all or none of these reasons.

Please keep us updated on the macaw. I would love to see pictures of the aviary that she will be living in after its done.

Like what noblemacaw says, we're passionate about our birds. Im telling you the way I see it as I do not sugar coat. Im upfront and honest so it may sound mean and harsh. I've owned birds for the past 15 years and I love my birds dearly! I studied about birds since I was very young and been fascinated with them. My family did not allow me to own a bird so I got one the moment I moved out. I also did reef tank for 8 years as well, I used to belong to Middle Tennessee Reef Club. We all learn from one another and im just trying to pass on my knowledge to others. If you feel deeply what you did was best for Billy, then I hope the best for Billy in her new home.

I live an hour from LA and my mom has an outdoor aviary with doves that have been happy and healthy for many years. As long as they have someplace warm to snuggle up, they should be fine. Or you could bring it in at night.

I'm just amazed... I dont want to sound harsh or rude....but why is it such a problem that the two birds got along...they looked happy with each other....there are ways to deal with the screaming I just think this was a drastic measure...but wish billy the best!
