If Ringo is anything like Fiyero you will love him to pieces. A friend of mine have one that's like Fiyero and they act the same. Great temperament!!!!!

Great to hear Michael

I heard, don't know if it's true that Tabby's are the most lovable of all cats?

:grey:

I think they're more then just a tabby. I think they're more like a Maine coon or a Norwegian snow cat?

Oh my gosh!!! Congrats! He is so cute! That made my day what a lil cutie! :D

Yikes! Poor Ringo:( So glad that you were able to rid him of those, he must feel so much better. Did you or Steven end up with any flea bites?
Nice how the SPCA is now not answering their phone.

I remember once when my dog had fleas, my daughter wanted to name them and start a flea circus. Luckily, I convinced her otherwise.

I went to the vet and was given Activyl drops.
Just looked that up and see it's a monthly treatment. Here, we have another one which is a tablet called capstar. The spot-on works on the fleas reproductive cycle but capstar just nukes any fleas on the cat/dog. I had an issue with one of my dogs having fleas, despite his spot-on and the capstar fixed it with no fuss. Maybe you can't get it over there, but you might want to ask. If you can get it, it's handy to have as an adjunct to the ongoing treatment when you've got fleas around and about, and a "flea magnet" pet.

That photo of Steven and Ringo is so cute.

Has Steven watched that youtube "engineer's guide to cats"? I just watched "part 2". Very amusing (to cat people at least)

First day when I bring the cats in they get a flea bath ASAP as I'm quite sensitive to flea bites. Out of all three cats, one bit me. Don't blame her there....but I trim nails first before attempting flea bath so I don't get clawed to death....then once dried I start the flea treatment. I have scars on my ankles from flea bites, that's how sensitive I am to them. The best flea bath is using dawn dish soap!

Aww, congratulations on your new family member, he's gorgeous! :)

In 18 years of joint parrot and cat ownership the only issue I have had is with my Amazon taking a chunk out of the cats ear! Small birds such as budgies, cockatiels and conures would be a constant worry, but once a med or large parrot has lunged at a cat, only the stupidest cat would try again... Although they are prey in the wild, bigger parrots do not smell like, act like, or move like true prey birds to a cat (compare a pigeon and African Grey- similar size but totally different behavior) and they quickly learn the pointy end is not much fun...

My older cat will not be in the same room as an uncaged parrot. My younger (very thick) cat who refuses to grow up loves to follow my macaws swishy tail feathers but soon backs off when he turns round!!

Mishka will soon show him who's boss ;)

Very cute cat!! Looking forward to videos of their interactions together!!!!

Wow that is amazing I was looking at some pic on the internet ....
Ringo sure does look more like a Norwegian snow cat.

Wow, Ringo is one handsome lad!

Just curious, you keep Mishka trimmed, right? Are you going to keep him flighted now that there is a kitty? It'd be safer for him, though one Ringo gets bit (As Lucy said) he's probably not going to ever bite again, haha, so it's probably not a big issue. Just curious.

Do keep us updated on the adventures of Ringo & Mishka... RINSHKA! Mingo? Rinka? Misho?

Terry I was in tears when I saw Ringo scratching the fleas.
Thank goodness we never got any flea bites.

We once house sat a house in Durban, over the festive season, it was infested with fleas GALORE. I too was badly bitten. We phoned the owners told them about the fleas.

THEY WERE SHOCKED R E A L L Y
.
Needles to say we moved out after two days.

Michael I was devastated and shocked seeing Ringo covered in fleas.

I was aware that
a single female lays about 15 to 25 eggs a day and multiply very quickly.
We dipped him in warm water many times, then tried removing the fleas with Vaseline.
I was totally amazed how calm Ringo was when in the water (we used the basin) in the bathroom.
He never once tried to jump out, once in the water he began purring.

We removed many, but I was sure more would be seen later.
After Steven got home we bathed Ringo in Dawn dish soap.
There has not been a single flea since then.

That poor birdie having a chunk out of his ear EINA

They are both aware of each other, although Mishka was more curious in the begining.
Sure Mishka will show Ringo who the boss is.

Hi there SpotsandSally

Nope Mishka wings will remain clipped, it is for his own safety within our apartment.
Mishka only comes out his cage, when under supervision.

Early this morning both Mishka and Ringo amazed me.

I placed Mishka on his potty and he asked "Mommy where is kitty cat?"
Ringo came running into the kitchen and lay besides Mishka potty.
Before Ringo used to sit a distance away watching Mishka.
Mishka looked up at me as if to say don't worry mommy.
They were observing one another both remaining calm.
When Mishka did his business he stepped down from the potty and walked towards his cage. Ringo just followed him.

Just to warn you ahead of time, I'll be buggering you about photos of Ringo relentlessly. :D

I have this vivid image in my head now. Ant is trying to read in bed, pillow propped up,....here comes Ringo, grabs a strand of Ants hair and pulls gently. :54:

Now Ant wants to sleep. It's a VERY hot night, as it's summer in S Africa. Ringo plops himself lovingly next to your face and/or neck and stretches out. He suddenly appears to be a 1 meter heating cushion resting comfy while Ant is dripping with sweat.

Congrats on the new family member!!! We're not much on cats, but he's very Cute!!
