YIKES!! LILLY HAS LAID AN EGG!!!

I just KNEW her undercarriage had been hanging a little low the last day or two! Plus she's been extra-specially clingy and making much more plaintive "peep" noises at me. Sure enough about 1700hrs today I find an egg on my couch, and it was a big one! And naturally I've had 2 weeks off work and am due to go back on Tuesday and i am NOT HAPPY ABOUT THAT EITHER!

Fingers crossed she doesn't lay any more but purple-crowns are pretty prolific breeders and they have a long breeding season (August to December) so i think i'm in for a looooooooooong six months.

Again - YIKES!!!!

Uh oh. Lilly what are you thinking?!?!

Well Aunty Inger I think we all know now exactly what Lilly’s been thinking - and probably still is!

C’mon Aunty Inger, you know how utterly impossible it is to get a bird to stop doing EXACTLY what she wants to do!

Sure Rozalka, why not?! See if you can talk some sense into her, coz I can’t!!

Dear Lilly, please, don't lay more eggs[emoji2]

Seems Lily is offloading cargo. Captain says she is over gross weight!

But seriously, hope the egg passed without any struggle!

Call sign VH-HRH is now at correct weight and clear for takeoff!

First (and so far only!) egg was passed fairly easily and I’ve not observed any more yet, although I remain vigilant, she’s such a naughty little Fokker!

Uh oh, call sign VH-HRH “Heavy” has had to make a last minute diversion to offload more unwanted freight last night!

She is acting a lot less hormonally driven than the preceding 72 hours. If she continues to lay I will be asking her doctor about maybe a hormonal implant. I’ve had it done on a cockatiel before but I don’t know if it’d be practicable on a tiny bird about a third of that size.

Stay tuned there’s bound to be more “excitement” (and boy do I hate this kind of excitement!)

Uh oh, a rejected takeoff? Head for the hangar and allow expert maintenance staff to thoroughly inspect!

I'm dying right now! :jumping40

For those unaware, Fokker is a storied Dutch aircraft manufacturer that produced several modern airliners. The name is endearing to aviation aficionados and provokes much double entendre humor. Some of the banter between pilots and air traffic controllers is hilarious!

A pic for Martina!!

Oooh Scott that AN Fokker in classic Red Chevron livery is a sight that brings a tear to my eye, thank you!

For those unaware, Ansett was a premier Australian airline founded in 1936 by the formidable Reg (later Sir Reginald) Ansett, which due to a series of unfortunate events and mis-management fell into bankruptcy in 2001. Ansett was a real “family” type company, representative perhaps of a bygone era in aviation which many people still miss in the new world of low-cost, no frills air travel, and I was fortunate enough to work there for it’s last 10 years of operations. Still very proud of all the good work we did back then!

Here's a video that NEVER fails to give me goosebumps :)

Thanks for that splendid Ansett video!! Gorgeous air-to-air footage captured by a highly modified aircraft with hi def cameras.

Yes Scott it’s wonderful footage isn’t it, and it’s gotta be 20 years old by now. I still maintain we had the prettiest tail in the sky!

Laurasea, apparently the PCL (love that new three letter acronym!) lays a clutch of between two and four eggs at a time. Lilly has laid two but no more since Tuesday and it’s now Friday night, so I’m hopeful there won’t be any more. And as far as I know Lilly retains her exclusivity as the only PCL on Parrot Forums!

How is HRH PCL Lillypilly at the moment? Did she stop off-loading cargo at various opportune drop zones finally?
