Clearly demonstrating the excellent care and deep Love provided by the Staff! It is one of my personal joys, seeing them display our efforts in they healthy feathering...

Methinks she.

Sort of reminds me of Smokey..I'm kicking myself for not doing a dna on her :o I just assumed "she was a she" by her attitude! RK and Smokes head look similar..kind of narrow, not Charlie Brownish (round) and body style slimmish. At any rate Red Kevin (or Karen :D) is a fine looking Grey no matter what!

If RK is a she, she will simply be Kevv. [emoji23]

And, as always, they know and are happy regardless of whether we associate a sex with a name. :D

At the end of the day, its Kevin's town and life goes on!

Updates from Greytown:

Servants have been patiently fawning over RK and to their great surprise and delight, RK has allowed copious scratches and chatting. Did we see the foot come up to step up? It seems so.

The walls keep coming down. RK spends most of her days climbing around her penthouse happily chomping on whatever comes her way.

Can it be that RK is coming further on the road to rehabilitation? We hope so.

You are so right, it is one of the joys of rescues as they begin to trust and open-up. The joy of those moments when we are allowed a bit closer to their heart!

Lucky you dear Lady! :D

The conundrum we face tho is how to keep RK’s nails trimmed. Have trimmed twice but really set us back.

Likely, not as easy for you, but we take Julio to our Avian Professional fairly often and while there, have them handle the nail trim. After-all, it is much better to have Julio place the evil-eye on everyone in the Clinic. We simply rescue him from the mean people that we all trusted to care for him kindly for about a half-an-hour. A method of deflection of his scorn on to 'those people.' :D

It has alway surprised me on just how often rescue Parrots loose trust in us when we are doing little more than trimming nails. You would swear that we had cut-off a leg or something.

We have tried the 'little kid game' of playing with the piggies as a means of developing a comfort with handling their toes. A few will kind of put-up with the process, but the overall group just see it as an attempt to kill them. As soon as one releases them, its the ice cold back treatment and stay away from me you insensitive, cruel staff person -- Off With Your Heads!!!

i use one of the dremel tool style grinders with the guard made for dogs. Anakin actually likes to play with it. I also have at least one large concrete perch in each cage. Gracie the grey always keeps hers at an acceptable length however she does keep them sharp.

This is the biggest development in recent weeks is RK’s playtime.

You're certain that it's not the position of the new ear piece for listening in on the goings on in Greytown?

Such a joy in watching them start to play!

he does look like he has his ear to the ground so to speak.

Today RK made a valiant attempt at flight and got out the door! However my Kev can’t fly well due to a wing injury, it’s sad. But kev had an adventure as we set to bringing the escapee inside. Winnie our pup was so excited. I was more concerned for the pup getting a nose piercing than I was for kev. All in all it was an exciting morning.

Nothing like having Kevin pull an unannounced test of the home's security system to send the Staff's blood pressure to new highs!

Happy that all ended well, but that is one of those 'sit down and state WOW.'

Kev is mellow stink-eyeing everyone today. I wish he would have had a better beginning at life, I wish his wing were better. I gave extra scritches and chats today. He would never make it outside, not for a minute. The large crows were outside, they pick up chickens! Kev is safe. I think any itch to be exploring outside has been dimmed!

In the World of Rescued Parrots, we cannot change their history! Only provide them Abundant Love and Assurances that 'with us' they will be Loved. And, as they slowly open-up and step by step Trust and return that Love, we can rejoice in our efforts.

Special announcement!

Greytown Towers plans have been approved!

Construction on the much-anticipated aviary will now commence!!!! RK will be so much happier!!!!
