Hmmm, all thou legally not recommended. That poor Grey needs a new Loving Home by what every means possible.

So very sad, but keep-up the targeted effort, dear friend!

Yes! Thank you for all rescue efforts!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are our hero!
And someday soon I believe you'll be that bird's hero.

Hoping so.

Meanwhile Kevin has done his level best to decimate any shoe left outside the closet. We are nearly barefoot.

Do parrots smell well? I mean he chews shoes!!! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Like tastebuds, they have very few aroma buds. So, sometimes its just better to look the other way and think of it as his sacrifice to keep the Human's on top of putting things away. :D

Heā€™s such a sweet and destructive King. Heā€™s very protective of his cage/castle which I think goes with having been cage bound. I was feeling too secure today which almost resulted in disaster when RK lunged for my hand as I mistakenly reached for the dirty food dish. I had presence of mind to distract him with a bag of food and he let go before damage was done save a small bite mark and a bruise. I think this other grey I want to help is much the same as RK. Glutton for punishment! I love the crabby ones and hope tho that someday I might get a friend.

For some reason, roosters like that make me think of...

Maybe he just needs to provide 'PostIt' notes.. Hmmm, likely wouldn't have the same effect... A King's work is never done!

Thankfully, I have an Amazon chewing on my fingers, which kept me from being Kevin controlled! Wow, that was close...

Love it!

Here Kevin. Please have this bag of sunflower seeds and a quart of strawberries. Can I get you anything else, your perfectness?

RK and his apparent turning a feather.

RK has been known as a not-so-benevolent beloved dictator! He has been known to destroy, draw blood and generally play mind games with his adoring servants. It may be that his servants have won the battle by the strategy of killing him with kindness.

The past two weeks RK has sought his servants out and stopped attacking his perching stick that is used to transport him from place to place. I think thereā€™s only been one nibble on the perch in days.

I think weā€™ve turned another subtle corner.

Go Kevin!

Smokey was my first "real" parrot. I didn't know much about parrots in general but knew I always wanted a Grey. I found her at a pet store in a small cage eating seed..i paid $300 for her. She growled like a pack of wild dogs and attacked anytime I tried to interact with her. She would cower in the corner when I put a bowl of "good food" in her house. Then Amy came along and was a huge help. Smokes would see Amy eating good stuff and started herself. Banana...corn on the cob..chicken bones..red grapes but would throw green ones. Then she started to talk and she did that extremely well! At 10pm it was "good night..good night" If I dawdled it was " GOOD NIGHT..GOOD NIGHT!!!" she would make a very irritating high pitched, thru you head hurting "chirp" then say "nawny girl!" learned that from my mom lol. Smokes couldn't say "naughty" YEARS went by and she would occasionally step-up on my fingers,if only the last resort then fly off as soon as she saw a better place to be. She would sit for hours on my shoulder while I was at the computer, gurgling in my ear, pulling my hair, beak beating my forehead or puking on my shoulder. She just did not like touching..no head skritching at all. A day doesn't go by that I don't think of her a miss her :31: Keep up the good work Kevin..you have trained your servant very well!

Gracie will only except touching of any kind on her terms. Hates showers except about twice a year. However I have to bath her at least three times a week as she has a problem with her preen gland clogging up if I don't. I firmly believe she is a worked out breeder. I rescued her from a flipper. She is a very sweet and loving lady to me and no one else. She will however gently take treats from anyone.
I'm relating this to reiterate my belief that most greys respond best to verbal not tactile interaction. Gracie considers my BOSS {wife} as a rival for my affection. However since she has been working from home for several months usually within 3 feet of Gracie. Gracie has become very distantly fond of the BOSS. If my wife leaves the room she goes crazy verbally trying to get her back. However tactile interaction is no better than before.
